My lovely work colleagues treated me to some lunch at The Hardwick for my birthday. What a treat. Set lunch at £18 for two courses is a giveaway. I would recommend to anybody. Beautiful surroundings, and great service made for a lovely experience.

Room Tip: Be brave trying the food - it's all good - even the scary stuff....

Visited on Sunday last week for Fathers Day. The restaurant was obviously very busy but the service we received was outstanding and the food was even better. Can not fault one thing about The Hardwick. Fantastic food, beautiful surrounding and lovely, relaxing atmosphere. What more can you ask for?

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here last Saturday in the restaurant and stayed overnight too.
The Staff were fabulous. Welcoming and attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
The food was fantastic and our room was beautifully elegant with lots of little touches and breakfast was stunning too. A perfect way to be a perfect stay.
We couldn't find fault with any part of our stay and can't wait to go back

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4 but I think they are all of the same standard

We have just spent a Monday evening and overnight stay at the Hardwick and we both loved every minute. After checking-in at the main building during a torrential downpour we were escorted to our room in the seperate accommodation block by a member of staff. The room was well appointed - ample tea/coffee making facilities, a well stocked mini-bar, DAB radio and HD TV, double bed, sofa & armchair and well-placed Melin Tregwynt fabrics - with en-suite 'wet room' shower and toilet. We had booked our table for dinner in advance which was just as well as we heard staff having to politely turn away prospective bookings for the evening as they were already full. The food and service was brilliant with nothing to much trouble and a varied selection to be had from the extensive menu and wine list. From the confit duck hash to start through to the vin santo and cantuccini biscuits to finish, via veal loin main course, every bite was wonderful. The staff were brilliant, always there when needed and melting into the background at other times. All in all we found The Hardwick a great place to stay as a treat and look forward to saving-up for our next stay.

We stayed here in order to visit the restaurant downstairs. And very pleased we are that we made that decision. It is out of town and the views across the countryside are lovely. It is unbelievably quiet. The rooms are a recent addition or rennovation and cannot be faulted. The room was big. The bathroom modern and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. But it was the little extras that made it so special. There was the usual tea and coffee but a lovely selection of teas and a real coffee. The biscuits were great homemade shortbread. There was an excellent selection of drinks and snacks. We had a half bottle of red which was really good. The bathroom had quality toiletries, good robes and thick white towels. There was an portable air conditioner which the staff came and asked if they could move to another room. We were sorry later we had said yes as the room became very warm. Suprising given that the ambient temperature was low for the time of year. But we opened the bathroom window and got not just fresh air blowing through but an amazing view of the surrounding farmland. I recommend that you stay here and eat in the restaurant downstairs. You will not be disappointed.

I went to this restaurant with very high expectations based on Michel Roux Jr's assertion ifs his favourite welsh restaurant. Well my opinion of his judgement has taken a knock

I had carpaccio to start. Semi cooked and covered in crispy super salted topping that meant I could hardly taste the beef. Strange

The main course was 21 day aged steak. It was cooked medium exactly as I had ordered it but was stringy and not flavoursome.

Desert of crem brûlée was barely average.

The setting is pub and not overly comfortable.

Overall an experience I would happily have avoided.

Went to the Hardwick for lunch a couple of weeks ago on a Monday ... wonderful food and a great welcome from all of the staff. It's a reak bonus for us that it's open for lunch on a Monday ... not too many decent places to eat are. Will definitely recommend to others and will definitely return ourselves!

Thanks!
