High tea was beautiful relaxing atmosphere, helpful staff delicious pastries cakes scones and a wide variety of teas and the option of a glass of champagne which was lovely, plenty of parking and entrance through the back. I also visited for dinner back last summer and dined in the court yard with a pianist playing just superb I highly recommend to anyone.

I booked the Angel for a colleague and me and didn't expect it to be as good as it was. The hotel is quiet, very clean and the rooms are well appointed and comfortable with free Wi-fi.

The staff in the hotel were excellent and very friendly.

The food at dinner and at breakfast was excellent. I would definitely stay again and would recommend The Angel to anyone.

Stayed with 3 colleagues and we all enjoyed a good evening meal and 4 good rooms. Happy to stay here again and easy to recommend this hotel to others, especially after they have refurbished the majority of rooms now

This must be one of my favourite eating places, as it combines, interesting pub food with very well kept Hereford Pale Ale, and the bonus, pleasant service!
Think you'll agree, three ingredients for a meal out.
The meue has a good price range, from sandwiches to steak.
Last visit.
Ribeye Steak 19.90
Haddock Risotto 12.80
Pannacotta 5.80
1 pint of Hereford Pale Ale 3.40
A good drinking Rioja 3.50
Cappuccino & Caffe Latte 5.80

Total bill, 51.20, so in my mind fair value, good quality, service and a very civilised atmosphere!

Room Tip: "you can't go wrong"

We stayed for two nights at the Angel in April and really enjoyed it. The service was friendly and helpful, our room very spacious with a comfortable kingsize bed, and the afternoon tea included some of the best scones I've tasted.

Room Tip: If staying at the weekend rooms that don't face the street are probably quieter.

This is a very well maintained ex coaching inn that obviously has an interesting heritage. It is nicely decorated inside and the rooms are very comfortable, super bathrooms and all the pots, bathrobes and stuff. We had a room at the front of the hotel which was a bit noisy on the Saturday night we were there, although our daughters had a room at the back and got no noise. Well positioned on the high street and a good base for this part of Wales.

It is let down by the lack of staff at check out....surely they know lots of people leave in the morning????? And the service in the dining room at breakfast time was dismal, not through a shortage of staff, there seemed to be more than enough to serve the people there, just something about their system was appalling slow and we had to complain three times about things that were wrong.

The fabric of the hotel is worth more than 5 stars but the service isn't and on that basis it really isn't good value for money as it is certainly not cheap.

Room Tip: Ask to be at the back of the hotel to avoid the street noise.

Went for afternoon tea. It was perfectly pleasant with veritable mountain of food which they aloud us to take home (thank god!). Also a great choice of tea. The staff were friendly but due to position of our table we were over looked a few times. All in all food was delicious atmosphere was good but a lot of people talking made for a bit of noise.
