“Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013

This hotel is luxurious and very quiet. Each room has an aircon unit so you can control the temperature in the room. Afternoon tea was delightful and the experienced and knowledgeable staff made it lovely experience.
It is a gateway to the Skirrid, the Blorenge and the Sugarloaf mountains. There are leaflets to guide you on the walks from the hotel so is ideal for mature couples and families.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a superior room. The bed was luxurious. Even though our room faced the pedestria...

Stayed at The Angel for 2 nights last week.
We got off to a good start, we were lucky enough to be upgraded from a standard room to 'The Cottage' which is absolutely delightful....cosy, spotlessly clean, full of character.
Had afternoon tea in the dining room on the second day, a real treat, we had a selection of savouries & sandwiches, miniature cakes, tartlets etc. all beautifully presented on a tiered stand, followed by warm scones with jam & clotted cream, all served with various choices of teas or coffees.
Every member of staff we came across was very helpful & friendly.
Can't praise this place enough...... Will definitely be back soon!

Stayed overnight on Saturday 23 February. Agree with other travellers an exceptional hotel. Had booked standard room but on checking in upgraded to Mews room. Fabulous - comfortable well furnished room with excellent bathroom all gleaming and exceptionally clean. Had lunch in the the Foxhunter Bar - great food, packed with locals and a buzzy atmosphere. In the evening went to Walnut Tree Restaurant great food and the power cut and subsequent candlelight just added something extra to a great evening. Friendly staff and great breakfast - what more can I say try it for yourself. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I took my father-in-law and two aunties to The Angel for afternoon tea, and what a delight!!!
The dining area is light and airy with calming background music. The tables were adorned with linen and sparkling vintage china - different matching china for each table.
The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
We spent the best part of 2 hours enjoying freshly cut sandwiches and warm savouries, beautiful homemade cakes and mini trifle in a tiny china dish. This was then followed by warm scones with strawberry jam and cream. As we could not manage them all we went away with pink ribbon tied boxes with the remaining cakes in.
I would rate this experience equal to our 2 other favourite afternoon tea places - The Royal Crescent in Bath and The Manor House in Castle Combe

My partner surprised me with an overnight stay at The Angel hotel, but being Valentines he had booked the hotel Castle Cottage, which was absolutly fabulous. Not only was the cottage decorated to give it a warm and welcoming feeling it was exceptionally clean and all finishing touches were of a high standard. The cottage comes with information on the local area and with the kitchen stocked up on complementary bottles of spring water, tea, coffee & nibbles & also equipped with Hair dryer and Iron.

Staff at the hotel were very welcoming and helpfull. Extra bonus was the transport provided to take us to the restruant in the evening which was all included in the price.

we had such a fab stay we are planning a second visit in the near future.

All in all we had a fantastic over night stay in a luxury cottage and in a beaufiful area of Wales.

If you want a really fantastic holiday near the Brecon Beacons, than the Angel Hotel is a must. This delightful old fashioned hotel provides the best food I have eaten for a long time, and the facilities are quite exceptionally good. I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough.

Returned today to The Angel Hotel at Abergavenny. The lunch was really excellent. Wonderful, reasonably priced Menu, excellent choices & when food arrived it lived up to our expectation. Gorgeous Cawl, Fab Cod Courjons, Crispy Chips & a really gorgeous Chocolate fondant pudding.Dining Room is lovely, light & open. Beautifully furbished. Toilets are excellent. Exceptionally clean, beautifully decorated & disposable hand Towels lovely. The staff of the Hotel provide an excellent service. Janet who is in charge of the Dining Room is really exceptional, a delightful lady who offers superb customer care together with a delightful Argentinian lady who looked after our table. All together The Angel Hotel at Abergavenny is a super venue for lunch and we intend to return. A firm favourite.
