“Charming House with beautiful Grounds”
Reviewed July 5, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We booked this rental directly with the owner via email. The booking process was really easy, the owner, Sue Corfield, was wonderful to deal with and she held the reservation for 15 months (I'm an obsessive type A advance planner) on the honor system (no deposit required).

The location of the cottage was perfect for touring this part of Wales. It is close to a main thoroughfare so no time was wasted driving on little lanes to get the day started; yet, it's set in about 4 acres of beautiful landscaped lawn on a quiet road with only three other houses. We spent one lovely evening in the pagoda drinking beer and enjoying the birds and flowers and would have done that every evening if the weather had cooperated.

The cottage is a well equipped, comfortable, charming one bedroom just inside the Brecon Beacons. Although the cottage shares a wall with the owner's house there is a separate entrance and several distinct areas on the property for relaxing outdoors so privacy shouldn't be an issue. We had even more privacy because the owners were away during our stay. We were given the key and orientation by the owner's daughter who lives nearby. Conveniently there is a big Waitrose market and gas station an easy, under 10 minute drive away (right off the main road).

We highly recommend this rental with one small caveat. The WiFi only worked in one small area of the house. This wasn't' an issue for us because we only needed the Wi-Fi to download emails and do an occasional internet search. But, if you needed to do some work while on vacation this might be a problem.

“Just wonderful”
Reviewed May 21, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Stopped here for a week while doing a little tour of Wales. The cottage is set on the side of a hill looking over the valley towards sugarloaf mountain. The grounds are the first thing that struck us. Theres soo much garden for you to enjoy, a summer house swings in a tree a soon to be a garden bar area and a stream. It all makes for a peaceful outside place to be with somewhere to go and enjoy it sunshine or rain. The cottage is a very well appointed single bedroom place with a second spare bed. The rooms are all well decorated very comfortable and enjoy the views out towards the east of the valley meaning the sun rises into the bedroom. Great way to wake in the morning. There's a full equipped kitchen leaving you wanting for nothing. Sue was a fabulous host and was full of suggestions on where's good to go in the local area. Take cash to pay or do a money transfer as they dont have a card machine. Go you'll love it.

“Perfect”
Reviewed March 30, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Stayed three nights over Easter and I must say you will not be disappointed if you stay here – a proper little gem set in beautiful surroundings and a perfect base for exploring the Brecon Beacons. Welcomed in by Sue and Tony with Welsh cakes and a chocolate bunny for our three year old. The Cottage itself is fully kitted out with everything you will need - very clean and comfortable - the property is attached to the main house where Sue and Tony live but they keep themselves to themselves so you have plenty of privacy – beautiful large garden with wonderful mountain views. Five minute stroll leads down to the Monmouthshire and Beacon Canal perfect for an evening stroll to walk off the dinner. A fifteen minute drive will take you into the wonderful village of Crickhowell where you can stock up on lots of tasty local produce and visit the local bookshop – Book-ish - owned by Sue’s daughter who recently won independent bookshop for Wales and the Midlands region. If you need to stock up on other essentials then there is a large Waitrose in Abergavenny which was only a ten minute drive away. We will defiantly be returning again

My husband and I stayed in the cottage for 4 nights with our 5 months old son.

We were wonderfully welcomed by Sue and Tony and during the entire stay we could ask them whenever we needed something. And although the cottage is attached to the main house, we still had our privacy.

The location is great for exploring the surrounding cities and nature.

We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone, thank you Sue and Tony for a lovely stay!

“Perfect stay”
Reviewed December 1, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We had a great stay in the cottage. It had everything we could have needed and more, which was great considering the weather wasn't great. There were lovely views of the countryside and perfectly situated a short drive or nice walk from Abergavenny. The Welsh cakes upon arrival were a nice treat and Sue was extremely helpful. We will certainly be back and would happily recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a lovely weekend away.
