We only sampled the restaurant, but from what others have said, all is exceptional.

The interior is very stylish and staff were very accommodating. The pub/hotel is located 50yards from the pedestrian area of the town centre and it was by chance we found it.
We should have booked as they were very busy, but they managed to squeeze us in. The atmosphere was sophisticated, pleasant and welcoming.

The bar area is modern, stone floor, cream walls with various sketch paintings, all giving a fresh ambience. Leather comfy chairs and brightly lit areas made you want to stay.

The restaurant area was equally welcoming, nicely decorated with plenty of space.
The food is quite something else....With the town's annual Food festival a Welsh national attraction, the food served here is the best advertisement for local produce and the highest talent in the kitchen. Totally recommend the Mackerel Pate, the fresh pasta with Wild Mushrooms and asparagus, Pork and crackling sticks! Bread was fresh and served warm with local butter.

For a last minute by chance place, this was a find that has to be shared.

Happened upon the Kings Arms by chance due to proximity to large public car park after long, cold walk in the Brecon Beacons. Our party of 7 (adults and teenagers) had a fantastic late lunch - superb food, of a quality way above that encountered in other hostelries we sampled in the Brecon area and excellent value. Service was perfect and in no way rushed even though it was 2 30pm when we walked through the door. Will definitely return!

I stayed at the Kings Arms recently and was very warmly welcomed by new owners Jon and Sacha. The atmosphere was fantastic; great acoustic music playing in the background, candles, fresh flowers and even new artwork and furniture. This has created a really lovely ambience. The bedroom was immaculate in every way. My only disappointment was that I could not stay longer.

Room Tip: Room 11 has a roll top bath!

This used to be a regular for both business and pleasure, but as it changed hands at the beginning of the year, things did not look good. Now in the hands of John and Sasha, things are looking up, both professionals with years of experience in the trade. So far only had a Sunday lunch but it was excellent. Well done guys, the town needs some healthy competition for the Angel.

I stayed at the Kings Arms recently with my husband and two children for a wedding nearby. We were greeted by a lovely lady who is one of the owners and were shown to our room. We had booked a family room which had a double bed and two singles. It was clean, well furnished and the en-suite bathroom was immaculate.

We didn't have an evening meal there due to the wedding but the breakfast the following morning was faultless. Full English with toast, cereal, juice and tea/coffee. We all really enjoyed it.

When I booked the room some time ago I was told there would be live music on that night but there was no band. I read in a recent review that the current owners are quite new so they have obviously stopped the live bands which in my opinion is a good idea.

Overall a lovely old building with a warm welcome, well furnished, great location, excellent food. Can't wait to go back.

we recently called at the Kings Arms, while shopping in Abergeveny, we were warmly welcomed by the staff who were friendly and knowledgeable, the food was first rate with a good selection of varied choices. We were told that it was under new ownership, long may it continue, very enjoyable experiance all round from fussy eaters.

We went here for our Christmas do from work. Large portions of great food and friendly attentive service. Great value for money. Very good beer produced in the pub's own brewery. The beer was also very reasonably priced.
