Great food, lovely presentation and flavours, prices reflect the quality .
The menu is varied and you are spoilt for choice.
Inside was full of enthusiastic locals and was full, we found a table outside as it was a lovely evening. We loved it!!!! Highly recommend

We visited here whilst on holiday in north wales - we didn't eat here but the food looked nice.
We visited on a Saturday evening - the pub was busy and service was slow with only one person serving on the bar.
We sat outside as the weather was nice and the setting within the castle walls was lovely
The pub was full of history

Thank you for review , sorry about slower bar service than usual . We do sometimes get caught out with staff rotas at busier times of the year .

Simply stunning location, great price and very comfortable accommodation. We stayed in the annex (Black Jacks) behind the pub and was very please. More like a small apartment than a hotel room - with well equipped kitchenette. Having a fridge is a huge bonus as you can keep your night cap and hangover water cold!
Breakfast was fantastic as was the pub itself and the restaurant (separate review).
Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Room Tip: Stay in Black Jacks as it will be quiter than staying over the bar

We stayed at the Black Boy for one night, as a base for running the Welsh Castles Relay. Our room was very spacious and cosy...and at the the very top of the inn! we had a separate living area which was not expected, but very useful for our little one with the extra room. :) The rooms are styled well, in tradition with the hotel...The bathroom again was very spacious and everything was spotlessly clean. We booked a table in the restaurant, as we had been advised in the email. It was evident during our visit, that this is a popular Inn with both locals and visitors, and also a popular restaurant! I would advise booking your table in advance. There was nothing to fault with the meal at all....the portions are very generous, and there was plenty to choose from. All the staff were very courteous during our stay...and very welcoming. There was some noise on the evening from the guests sitting outside, but that is to be expected when you book into an Inn. All in all a very pleasant stay...we will definitely be booking in again for next year :)

Wandering around the picturesque streets of Caernafon we spotted this fine looking place. It was a glorious sunny day so we sat outside with a pot of tea whilst deciding what to eat.
Being Sunday it had to be a roast. They do an offer of a starter and main for 11.99 or main and a pudding for 11.99. We chose prawn cocktails and roast beef. You pay at the bar when you order, so it feels like a Wetherspoons except there's only one till at the bar so you have a bit of a wait when it's busy. Suppose that helps the chef so he isn't bombarded with orders!
The starter was amazing. Juicy prawns and seafood sauce in separate pots with salad and toast.
The main was superb. Huge portions of everything and it was perfectly cooked. The beef was amazing. There was spiced red cabbage, braised leeks, cauliflower in white sauce and the biggest single roast potato I'd ever seen! Yummy but we couldn't eat it all.
The bar staff and waitresses are all polite and helpful.
The toilets are award winning so don't hesitate to spend a penny here.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed the food and watching the world go by.
We'll definitely call again next time we're in Caernarfon.
