We had an overnight stay arriving on 27th, Father and daughter went of to Snowdon for the day, i was made welcome even though i was there at 10am no problem to the staff who looked after my overnight bag, got me some tea and toast. I went out for the majority of the day and arrived back to be shown to my room, it was lovely massive bed, great bathroom with bath and shower, spotlessly clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was lovely, staff very attentive and not rushed to leave, a few drinks in the bar then off for an early night, one small problem our room was above the bar so some noise, but tiredness and drink helped. Breakfast was good as well. All staff we met at this hotel were so pleasant and caring. I will, and have recommended to a friend already.

Called late on a Saturday to book two rooms and the staff were really helpful. Only had two rooms left, with one being above the bar. They warned us this would be noisy but we were welcome to book it.

It's a busy pub, so it was a wee bit noisy, in both the room above the bar and in the other room. This is just due to the building being very old though and it didn't keep either of the couples up (despite both the girls not being great sleepers).

The rooms were lovely, with AMAZING beds. They were huge and extremely comfy.

There was a few little bits of chipped paint etc in our room, which an hour of DIY would fix. And for £90, i would have expected this to be done.

Nevertheless, I was VERY comfortable and would return. It's a very nice stay.

Oh, breakfast was really lovely, with all four of clearing our plates.

Staff were generally nice and helpful :-)

This is a 1522 establishment that has however not only kept all its old charm but is also completely up to date. The best of the old and the new. Very spacious and well furnished rooms, to a standard to equal the best of London, but at a price which would please anyone. I was only able to spend less than 24 hours here but it felt like a week's holiday. Breakfast was freshly cooked from the finest local ingredients and was tremendously good, the evening meal just as good. The hotel also now has ground floor rooms suitable for elderly or disabled guests, which is no mean feat in a 1522 Inn. There is wi fi in every room and multi channel TV with youtube and some online services available through it. For all of this it has not forgottent its roots as a pub and has excellent draught ales.

Diolch , Thank you for review i am so glad you have appreciated what we have tried to achieve at the Inn . We have run pubs /hotels in north and mid wales for over 30 years and this must be one of the best we have ever owned. At one time we owned and managed out 8 Inns in north wales , but kept this one back from sale.

We have just returned home after spending 3 nights here, staying in room 2 - beautifully decorated with good-sized bathroom and well-equipped with hairdryer, iron and ironing board, fan and large sized, flat screen TV. Would really recommend room 2, overlooking inner courtyard, so quiet, although in the summer, this would be a smokers' hot spot, so may be a little noisy. The food is tasty and home-made and the portions are garguantuan so you probably won't need a starter or dessert. The staff are amazing - so helpful, cheerful and efficient - the best ever. The only quibble (and this is minimal) is that the car park is not very large (20 cars maximum) so parking may be a bit of a problem, although this is to be expected because of the pub's location, within the walled town itself. The people of Caernarfon are among the friendiest and most cheerful we've met, not surprising as they live in such a lovely place!! The B & B costs of £75 per room per night are excellent value, considering the lovely accommodation and the appetising breakfasts.

Arrived Sat 19th for a 3 night break, from the minute we arrived until the second we left, we were treated like royalty. The staff were friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. We had room 24 in the loft, which was beautifully appointed, superb comfortable bed. Food was 10/10 and Sunday lunch was amazing.I have to give special credit to Michelle who made me feel like I was the only guest there and we had some fun! I cant recommend this place highly enough, if you've never been then make the effort to visit, you wont be disappointed, ll the staff deserve a gold star for service and friendliness, we are going back, and it will definitely be sooner rather than later.

Room Tip: If you're over 6ft maybe the attic rooms are not for you.

I went to Caernarfon in June to take part in a cycle event. Stayed in a crap B & B Saturday and then moved to Y Bachgen Du for Sunday. Fantastic reception. Had a great meal Sunday night. All the staff and other diners were friendly. My rare steak was rare and good. For me it was a bonus to be able to converse with staff in Welsh. Reading some of the criticisms about the rooms being small and dark- well it is an old hotel and that is what you get in an old building. Also, someone complained about the day when Wales were playing rugby- that has happened to me when I have been in England when their rugby team has been playing and I did not complaint as I was in England at the time. When you are in a bar of rugby supporters, whatever nationality, you have to physically push and bully your way to the bar.

In all, great management, staff and food and I will be back in 2014
