Do go on the guided tour before you go round. Well worth the extra £3 to get information from a very experienced and friendly guide.

We spent all day exploring this magnificent site. Visitors have access to virtually everywhere in the castle and the views from the high turrets are magnificent. There is also a museum concerning the Welsh Fusiliers, displays charting the history of the Princes of Wales and the inauguration of Prince Charles. There is also a small cinema that shows a video concerning the history of the castle. We were fortunate that we went on a gloriously sunny day, so could take advantage of the many viewpoints the castle had to offer. A truely wonderful way to spend a day.

From the outside it looks massive and once inside it looks even bigger. There are some excellent displays and disabled access to some areas. This is a CADW property so English Heritage members get in free.

An amazing castle and also a palace in one. It is surprising how big is place actually is. Located in the middle of the town centre, there is ample parking.
Admission prices are cheap, considering how much there is to see.

We spent an hour and half here as we were limited for time. This is not enough time to spend at this castle. Climbing the towers and exploring the castle ruins is a wonderful experience. We will return and explore what we missed. So much history and so much information. I would recommend buying a guide or taking the tour to learn more about this wonderful castle. Climbing the tower steps felt more comfortable with the rope instead of a metal type banister.
