“Best B&B we've stayed in!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

We couldn't fault this place. Jan is personable and friendly and goes the extra mile to help - having ascertained almost straight away that we like decaff coffee (we were offered a drink on arrival), she brought a copious amount of both decaff tea and decaff coffee up to our room to last us for our entire stay. The arrival drink, by the way, was taken on the decking which has been constructed against the top of the old city wall that the house backs on to - what a view, right over the Menai Strait to Anglesey!
Our room was gorgeous - Room 3 - decorated in golds and berry colours, cosy and classic but not in the least bit old-fashioned. The bed is huge and really comfy - the mattress is memory foam, but not the sort that you disappear into, it seems to combine the best of memory foam properties with the best of ordinary-mattress properties!
The recently modernised bathroom is large with its own window, a very decent, stylish electric overhead shower with an enlarged bath area at the shower end, and the bath is a spa-bath, which was fantastic! Plenty of hot water on demand, too. Extra touches in the room included luxurious bathrobes, slippers, choccies, wine glasses, mini fridge with fresh milk and bottled water daily, loads of toiletries, electric toothbrush and spare head. Another lovely extra touch generally was that we could help ourselves to a glass of wine, beer or juice every evening in the guest lounge, before going out to eat.
Breakfast is in the beautifully-decorated dining room at the front of the house, and both the choice and quality of the food was terrific. We can recommend the porridge! Plenty of little extras, again, like chocolate muffins and brownies, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheese, crackers, crispbread, ham and salami to help yourselves to.
Jan and Beth and team make sure that everyone feels welcome and special but are never overwhelming in their attentions, the perfect hosts.
We can't recommend Victoria highly enough.

Room Tip: Room 3 is at the front of the property, is large, has a super-King bed and a spa bath. Room 2 overl...

Until we drove through the archway of the city walls onto Church Street, we had no idea where this property was situated. Jan greeted us and immediately offered tea. She showed us the back garden, and the steps leading up to the new deck. What a wonderful surprise to discover that the wall of her back garden was actually the ancient city wall, and the view from her deck was the Menai Strait. She prepared tea for us and we chatted with another couple for 45 minutes, with Jan unobtrusively checking on us now and then. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom was the biggest and most beautiful on our 16 day trip to the UK! Only steps from Caernarfon Castle, it was so convenient. I am so sorry we didn't schedule more than one night, but one day we'll be back!

We stayed here in August 2013, from the first moment we arrived Jan and her staff could not have been more helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated with a great range of accessories. Everything was of the highest quality. With slippers and gowns in the wardrobe, a massive array of toiletries in the bathroom and a superb choice of drinks in the room, as well as complimentary wine and soft drinks in the lounge. Breakfast was a great start to the day, with every type of hot and cold choices available. Excellently cooked and served. Nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely stay again and would have no hesitation in recommending this B&B.

It is a priviledge to be welcomed into Jan's beautiful home. The rooms are beautifully decorated, beds and pillows so comfortable - lovely added touches throughout. Jan is a perfect hostess (ably assisted by her daughter) - breakfast is great, spoilt for choice. Our room had a lovely view over The Menai Straits. The setting is wonderful, within the old walls of the town, central to everything. This is the best B&B that we have ever stayed in, highly recommended - we can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: One top floor room has stunning view over Menai Straits

We stayed two nights in September, almost a year after our first visit to Victoria House. Our room was top notch and the service could not have been friendlier. They even helped with dinner reservations. The location was within walking distance of the castle and we enjoyed touring it one sunny morning (climbed to the top and watched the tide come in - or was it going out?). When you visit Caernarfon, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: If visiting on a weekend, make dinner reservations early.

Jan truely goes beyond what is required to make her guests comfortable. Our room was very comfortable with lots of nice touches. If you don't mind climbing the stairs get the room on the top floor that looks out over the castle wall to the sea. The view is amazing! I was in the UK for 20 days and met only 2 superstars of the B&B business and Jan is one.

Jan and the team have made every possible effort to make the place and your trip perfect. There are so many touches and attention paid to detail it is unreal. Looking at the reviews this was the only and the obvious place to stay in Caernarfon.
