Room 2. The window that faces the Pier, the sea. The sound of seagulls and a very kind staff.
Everything is very clean, an incredibly wide room. A sofa, perfect for a sweet coffee in the morning watching the tide as it rises.
We spent a very beautiful night over there.

We came for 'bangor pride' and we had a 2 night stay here! The reception service was second to none and Sam who runs the place was lovely, very chatty, great sense of humour and very sociable! The room ( no 15 ) had a fab view to the front overlooking the pier, yes indeed it was a tad tired in decoration but spotless, modern

The room we stayed has a superb view to sea and pier although the room is a bit dated and shabby bedsheaths. One night stay is OK.
Breakfast is quite poor service as you have to keep calling waiteress for toasted-bread, etc.. as they will not ask.

One annoying thing is that at check-in, the receptionist - a gentleman, ask for cash as payment. When I told him, I did not have that amount of cash in hand and will pay by card and funny enough, he told me that ' it is only 55 pounds!!!!

One advice - check at lateroom.com or other websites for price first.
When I called hotel directly, I was quoated higher price and when I told about discount in lateroom.com, I received with discounted price same as lateoom.com

Staff were very nice and checking in was very easy. The room was nice and clean and quite modern for the age of the rest of the building over in the separate building.

Overall it was a lads night over in Bangor and the hotel was great but the breakfast wasn't and that was nothing to do with my hangover.

Room Tip: 23 and 25 were nice room, 25 was sea view, 23 rear view.

Bangor is rather a one horse town now but it must've been rather grand in its day, the splendid pier opposite to the hotel reflecting its former glories. In point of fact the pier has been nicely restored and makes for a pleasing stroll after breakfast in this more-than-adequate establishment. We stayed in the annexe house which is, as mentioned on notices in the entrance, in course of a refurb. Our top-floor room had been given the wash and brush up treatment and was just fine, - clean, tidy and with stunning views across the strait out to sea.
We had been the previous week to Eryl Mor on a coach day-out with my old firm and had lunch there - food was fine, and liking quirky places, (for such it is) we opted for an overnight stay the following week as we were travelling westward.
Some of the reviews here are mean-spirited. Yes, there are points that need to be addressed but we'd stay again. I think I'd ask for the same room again though, and I've no knowledge of what the rooms in the main body of the hotel are like. Maybe the negative comments stem from stays there? Anyone with mobility problems would indeed have problems, as there are steep steps and stairs with no lifts.
The staff aren't over-effusive nor over-exuberant - friendly enough but not much conversation at the bar. I guess they're just getting on with the basics.
Evening meal and breakfast were just the job - nothing too fancy, not too much choice either but reasonable value for money. Disappointing to find the cask beer had run out and somehow I wasn't surprised. I'd imagine the turnover woudn't make for a good quality pint at all times. Try the Boatyard pub just round the corner for fine beers.
The wine list is small and again, it's OK if you don't expect too much. In Bangor, frankly, who would expect too much!? There are many run-down and shuttered premises and if it weren't for the student population and all the bolt-on trade that implies, goodness knows what would keep the local economy afloat.
£75 for one night's B&B kept this getting the 'very good' star - £60/£65 would have been more in keeping with what is offered.
