“An unexpected pleasure”
Reviewed January 17, 2012

Although on the University campus, this is not student accommodation but designed for business travellers. The bedrooms are good quality and would suit tourists looking for modern, comfortable rooms.

stayed here for one night in October 11, This hotel is the best of the pack in the region, although it doesnt have much competition. The room I stayed in was very small but not too small. The hotel appeared to me to be a little bit of a maze, but that is down to it being a converted listed building. The decor is lovely and there is a nice atmosphere with people generally visiting the university for one reason or another. I cant comment on the food because i didnt try it. In the morning there was a real buzz with the entrance hall/foyer full of very animated meetings.

Excellent stay, staff very friendly, lovely room, extremely clean, very good atmosphere. Breakfast very pleasant but not fantastic (buffet) but definitely recommend as a place to stay.

This is a great option in an area that is short on quality accomodation. Incredibly clean high quality rooms that easily warrant their 4* rating (despite being fairly compact). As somebody who likes to get out into the mountains in Snowdonia but doesn't want to rough it nor pay over the odds for a flowery 'Country House' experience this is a great no nonsense high quality accomodation choice.

This is accomodation in a university conference centre not a hotel so staffing levels can be a bit thin when they are quiet and a bit stretched when they are busy but staff very helpful. Layout, meal times, etc can all be a bit confusing and seem to depend a bit on what's going on there but just ask and in our experience the staff will enthusiastically accomodate all reasonable requests.

Excellent bar with slightly ambitiously priced basic food (pub grub). Restaurant/breakfast room very institutional and soulless and not up to the standard of the rest of the facility. Breakfast fell short of expectations with hot food spending far too long under infra red lamps drying out and limited choice. The breakfast was however overall adequate and wouldn't put me off going again given the overall quality and value of the rest this place.

Don't expect everything that you would from a conventional large 4* hotel (except to quality rooms) and you won't be disappointed as overall this place provides great accomodation and facilities at a reasonable price.

If you have any occasion to be visiting the University in Bangor this is an ideal place to stay. It is a little pricey and inside, although the rooms are nice, the atmosphere is a little school canteenish. Our room was clean and well presented and there was no problem in putting another bed in the room for our daughter. The staff were very plesant and helpful. However, the bar and resturant were soul-less with very bright lighting and no atmosphere and seemed more like a Gentleman's Club than a relaxing shared space for everyone. This was very disappointing after a long day spent driving and moving our daughter into her university accommodation. In the end we walked into the town which fortunately was very close.

Room Tip: Book early

Stayed here for one night recently, rooms very comfortable and very new. Nice bar also very relaxed with lovely view of the straits.
Restuarant wasthe biggest disapointment, appear to be unable to cope with more than 12 diners. Food very average and overpriced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Angelsey with sea view
