Stayed with friends at the Bodalwyn over August Bank Holiday weekend to attend a wedding, the owners, Clive and Hilary, could not have been more friendly, the rooms, food and advice on travel etc could not have been better, and importantly all delivered with a smile and a friendly manner, so important these days and so difficult to find at many many establishments. First stayed in Aberystwyth over 40 years ago, good to see its moving along but retaining most of its charm and even the sun showed up as well.

Room Tip: Sea views are available

Great seaside B&B, with a great location, good views and quiet position. Rooms clean and linens great. Room had nice sofa to relax and good TV. Bathroom a little small but good enough for us.
Breakfast good with plenty to eat.

Room Tip: front rooms have best view

Hilary and Clive remain the perfect, welcoming hosts of this delightful home-from-home guest house. Our room (No.3) was spotless and the bay window afforded both a comfortable sitting area and a pleasant view of the sea. Bedding and towels were immaculate and the rooms fittings and fixtures - especially the magnificent tile fireplace - gave it a wonderful Victorian/Edwardian "feel". The ensuite was adequate, though limited space meant that the shower cubicle was cosy rather than spacious.
Breakfasts are pre-ordered and cooked to perfection. The dining area includes a glass conservatory which is bright and spacious but, sadly, just a little too far up the side of the house to benefit from the sea view. We LOVE the dining room grasshoppers! The Bodalwyn is up there with the best guest houses in Wales (and is possibly the very best in Aberystwyth.) Book it - you won't be disappointed.

We stayed in Aberystwyth for two nights and really enjoyed getting to know this rarely visited gem on the coast of Wales. It's a university town, so plenty of lively bars and some nice restaurants, but the best part is the coastline and what surrounds the town. Bodalwyn was perfectly located just a few minutes walk to the promenade, the manager was friendly and so nice to our little boy. The room we had was lightfilled and beautifully redone. Breakfast featured the best bacon we have ever tasted!

A real highlight of our trip!

As in the title of this review, Bodalwyn is a friendly guesthouse not far from the seafron tor the town of Aber, but is far enough out of the town so that guest s are not subject to traffic or student noise. The breakfast was delicious and the house had a lovely family feel to it. We stayed for two nights with friends as part of a reunion in aber as we were all students there a few years ago. We fully intend to make this a yearly occurence and will definitely be returning to Bodalwyn as part of the event.

We were three couples staying here for two nights. Hilary and Clive have really made a good job of their guesthouse. Nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. We felt well looked after and they helped us with restaurant and taxi bookings even when we disturbed them in their meal. The breakfast was very good,, but more like a hotel breakfast with marmelade and cereals in boxes. I would gladly recommend Bodalwyn to all of you reading this!

A good provincial b&b, set one street back from the sea front in a quiet location. I had a single room at the top of the house - it was light and pleasant, a large bathroom ensuite (though a very small shower cubicle). The owners are helpful, as everyone says, and breakfast is good. You have to order the previous evening, which is not perfect, but there were some nice touches: good local bread for toast, a range of teas etc. All in all, a good solid choice.
