The location at the prommenade is superb, just at the beach. The Welsh breakfast gives you a great start of the day and you will sleep like a baby after the last beer in the bar. The staff is nice and friendly.

We arrived at 2330 after long trip, for my daughters graduation. Went to room and were hit by heat and smell of sewerage. Had to move bed to open bathroom door. Very helpful manager moved us to cottages on outskirts of Aber. Breakfast very good.

I booked to stay in a lodge owned by the Marine hotel up at Bryncarnedd caravan park with friends during graduation week. As we were all graduating from Masters courses and hadn't seen each other in a year we were hoping for a great week and a chance to catch up. As it happened, we didn't all even end up staying in the same lodge.

At a cost of £600 for four nights we expected somewhere decent to stay. We turned up to the 'lodge' (which is described as having a 'high standard of living' on the website) to find what can only be described as a porta-cabin on wheels which was left in a filthy state. We then went to load things in the fridge only to discover that the electricity didn't work and the freezer had melted leaving it full of water and soggy chips. Once the electricity was put back on, we realised that the television did not work which had to be fixed again along with the fridge which was on the blink. There was also no cutlery or crockery in the cupboards and any cups in there were filthy. I wonder how they expect you to 'self-cater' without catering equipment!?

We wanted to have a good time so proceeded to catch up that night and move everything in. When it was time to go to sleep we discovered that the 'sofa bed' had broken and empty cans, chips and cigarette butts had been left under there. This meant that there wasn't enough beds for the amount of people staying there. Luckily, the marine was willing to put one of my friends up overnight and he hadn't been drinking so could drive down. When he arrived, there was no sign of an apology but he was given two keys to rooms in the farmhouse adjacent to the caravan park which I happen to know is used as a student let in term time. This was reflected in the terrible quality of the rooms - one of my friends found blood splattered across the pillow and bathroom.

The next day I was in town and decided to go into the marine to mention that our gas had run out and so we had no hot water, surprise, surprise! When I explained where I was saying i heard the girl behind the desk say to her colleague 'it's lodge 14 again', lovely! On both occasions I spoke to the individual behind the desk I was told that we shouldn't expect luxury as we had payed 'a good price'. We didn't expect luxury but we expected cleanliness, working gas and electricity and enough beds! She said that the compensation of two dirty rooms in a farmhouse was sufficient and she didn't know why what happened had happened and that they had not received any other complaints. I know this is not true from speaking to other guests and doing a quick search online. They refused to take any responsibility for something which was a disaster from beginning to end.

Don't stay here if you'd like a worry free and holiday in sanitary conditions! Not impressed!

This'll be quick. It was ok. Clean, a bit tired, breakfast so so. I wouldn't normally make a point about those things.......but 95 quid a night? Come on. Be reasonable.
I can only think the extra 20-25 quid a night is for the seafront location (we didnt have a seaview). So.....sorry Marine I gotta let people know

The main reason we chose this hotel for a stay in Aber was because they let us take the dog. It's a little frayed at the edges but the room we had was comfortable with everything we needed. The bed was enormous and really comfortable. Clearly work was being done in the corridor outside and the bathroom needed updating but I assume that we weren't put in the premier suite with the dog. We had a sea view though the window was a bit small - one at a time. We left it open and went to sleep with the sound of the sea, (swn y mor). Breakfast was OK but the ballroom, in which it was served, felt soulless and drab. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful. parking at the back was a bit of a crammed in ramshackle affair but it worked. As we had the dog I phoned the hotel directly to book and the price I was quoted was a couple of quid cheaper than online. It still seemed a little pricey but it is Summer and it is on the Front

Called in the Marine looking for a room for the night. The hotel was full but they had a room available in the annexe (Atlantic Hotel) next door but one.

We had a big family room with a sea view, but whilst the Marine Hotel seemed smart and well appointed, the Atlantic was a little shabby and in need of some renovation. There was some building work going on so this could well be work in progress and I just stayed there at the wrong time.

Breakfast served in the Marine in the morning was excellent

Room Tip: Stay in the Marine Hotel if you have a choice

Nice place, ideally located right next to the beach.

Our room was a sea view and nice. Everything seems to be set up for the older generation, and the room was £75 which is a bit on the high side for such a quiet town.

Aberstwyth doesn't seem to be the type of place to party as its a very quiet oldish type sea side resort

Didn't eat there as it was full of oldies ;-)

Room Tip: Pick a sea view
