Owner description: Travelling on the Vale of Rheidol Railway is the finest way to see the stunning Rheidol Valley. We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all.

“Fantastic trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013 via mobile

Terrific trip down memory lane. Well actually memories of other people talking about the magic of steam. This is an old narrow gauge ex BR railway. Check the timetable closely if you want hours to explore Devils Bridge. We wanted a 15 minute short walk and cream tea before our return so the timing were perfect for us. Definitely recommended. BTW bring your camera. Views are stunning from the train carriage.

“Chuffing up the valley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

A trip back down memory lane, the fascination of steam trains still gets to the older members of the community, and it would seem to the younger element, maybe raised on Thomas the Tank Engine ?
Great scenery en-route and at the destination - this trip is a MUST

“Great views from the restored steam train”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

We did the return trip from Devil's Bridge to Aberystwyth and found this a great experience as we followed the valley down from the hills to the plain below. The diversity of scenery meant a constant enjoyment of the sights as they unfolded around every bend.
We lunched in one of the many options near Aberystwyth station before returning which made the day a very pleasant one.

“Good Train Ride, Pity about the time at the Top”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013

We really looked forward to this trip and the staff were more than helpful with the pram. The views from the train were great and the trip was very relaxing. The problem I had with the trip, was the limited time at Devil's Bridge (an hour turn round), I didn't think this give us enough time to explore the waterfalls. We decided not to risk exploring and decided to just to have a snack. I don't think there is enough to do in Devil's Bridge to stay all day. An extra half an hour would of been greatly appreciated.
