Cost £21 for 2 adults and 2 children. Was in/out in 10 mins. Just like a big greenhouse.Very disappointing and very overpriced. Pretty butterflies but more realistic pricing of £3 each would be better. Got a similar thing back home in Yorkshire which costs only a fraction of the price and has so much more to offer.

“Small, but it has a lot to offer”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

I had been to bigger butterfly houses previously, but this small one can measure itself against the best of them. Its small size would probably put off visitors with prams, push-chairs and small children, but I enjoyed being there almost on my own with nobody nudging me or running into me while I was taking slow-motion videos. The variety of butterflies was excellent, and I also liked the insects on display in the anteroom.

Some reviewers have complained about the relatively high admission charge. I did not find it excessive considering the high overheads. The house has to be maintained and heated even when no visitors turn up and during the periods when it is closed.

“Worth the 3 hour drive!!”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

We've been to the butterfly houses in Blenheim Palace and Chester Zoo, but this place is by far the best. Although you might find this one small, it's not much smaller than the previous 2 places we visited. And the number of butterflies was much greater. And isn't that the whole point of going to such a house?

Inside the Butterfly House it is safe to assume that the quality and quantity of the butterflies will be consistent whenever you visit. There is also an outside garden which contain flowers and plants to attract butterflies, but bear in mind, the quality of the experience will be completely weather dependent. If you're lucky, like we were, on a good day you can expect to be surrounded by butterflies!! Apparently, today was a record number of butterflies.

What sets this butterfly house apart from the others is Neil taking the time to teach us about butterflies, their life cycle, showing us pupas, answering all our questions and making it a really great personal experience.

If you live close by, it's a no brainer. Or if you're planning on making a longer trip like we did, remember that it's an absolutely stunning drive and the house is set in lovely scenery, complete with walking trails, reservoir, and sheep!

“Not very big”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

You can get up close to butterflies of all sizes. The place is very small and it won't take long to go round it but something to do when you are bored and looking for somewhere to go.
