Description: The Carlton Restaurant has been under new management since its opening on 3rd July 2013. Owned and run by former chef and owner of the popular Corner's Restaurant on Chalybeate Street (who have also welcomed famous Welsh celebrities in the past such as Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews from Catatonia), Toni and her partner, Gaffari, would like to welcome everyone! The Carlton Restaurant is centrally located in the main town centre of Aberystwyth and boasts an elevated position (above Superdrug) overlooking the main street. Locally-sourced and fresh ingredients and home-cooked with great care and attention to customers' health and well-being are at the forefront of The Carlton's aims. Customers can enjoy delicious and healthy drinks knowing that every beverage consumed helps to support producers in developing countries. Diners with a sweet-tooth can also try Toni's locally-famous home-made cakes and various desserts - her Lemon Meringue is a particular favourite amongst customers! The Carlton Restaurant also caters for specialised dining so customers with food allergies and intolerances can also enjoy The Carlton's food without worrying - simply mention your requirements to the staff. The Carlton Restaurant is also a popular venue for groups. Large groups (10+) are welcome to exclusively book The Carlton Restaurant on Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights. With customers' choices and satisfaction in mind, Toni and Gaff can also custom-make menus. A large selection of wines, beers and cocktails are also available (either during the day or in the evening!).

Been here several times before and always enjoyed it - but my last visit was shocking. Admittedly busy, instead of being shown to a table the waitress pointed to one and said 'You can sit there'.

We were harassed within 30 seconds of sitting down for an order and were given an audible indication of the waitress' displeasure that we hadn't chosen our meals. What shocked my friend and I most was that a table of teenagers were asked to leave because the waitress didn't believe 'they weren't going to spend enough'. Our food arrived and was a poor mix of substandard ingredients.

I sincerely hope that this was out of character for the Carlton, but suffice it to say we will not be visiting again any time in the near future.

Cannot praise the Carlton enough - you must really try this café if you're in Aberystwyth.

From my time in Aberystwyth as a student 06-09 to visits with my family now I can honestly say it is one of the few eateries in Aberystwyth that is consistently good, great value and welcoming. Not once have I received a bad meal...the staff are attentive and polite, the café is pleasantly decorated and comfy and the meals are great value, good food. You cannot go wrong, whether you're after cheesy beans on chips £3.00 student bargain or if you fancy a homely cottage pie with chips to die for (hardly breaking the bank at approx £7.00) all of the meals are well cooked, well presented, affordable and delicious.

I would urge anyone looking for a hearty breakfast, nice lunch or afternoon tea (home made scones!) to try this lovely café - you will not be disappointed!

Very comfy upstairs cafe serving plenty on your plate for what you pay. Does get very busy but is a nice place to pop in for a cheap lunch and a drink

Lovely cafe above superdrug! Good to watch people passing by and have a coffee! Can get busy at lunch times, people always fighting for window seats! Good food and value for money
