We came for a weekend to Brynowen and were full of trepidation after reading some of the reviews on here.

We came on a "Sun" holiday offer and we upgraded to a silver caravan.

We arrived late on Friday evening and the security guard was exceptionally helpful to us, even though it was like a monsoon outside. He really went out of his way to help us.

The caravan itself was modern, well equipped and very clean. My mother slept in the small double room, the children slept in the little bedroom with two small beds, while we slept on the fold out bed in the living area. We stayed in caravan 1.53, which is on the flat area near to the entrance and the amenities. My mother is disabled and found it easy t o move around the flat part of the resort.

The pool is fabulous for a caravan park pool, with a slide and baby area. The staff there very helpful. I am surprised that some people on here were giving negative feedback of the pool staff, they were very efficient and did their jobs. Some people may have misinterpreted them as being officous, when in fact they were doing their jobs - and I speak as a former qualified pool lifeguard and swimming teacher who regularly competes in triathlons.

The grounds are very clean and tidy and well kept by the ground staff. The play area was also good.

We didn't get a chance to sample the night life and entertainment, although we did want to watch the Australia vs Wales rugby match on the big screen. The bartender tried very hard to get the satellite dish to work, but there was a fault which needs to be corrected.

Borth itself is a small, quaint, clean and quiet seaside resort with some basic amenities. The beach is pleasant and clean. We saw little damage caused by the recent floods.

Don't believe the bad reviews on here. We had a lovely time and we feel strongly that some people have written some inaccurate information about this park. Everyone has their own views, but some of the comments made are clearly harsh and misleading.

We would definitely return to this caravan park again.

I write this when i stayed there on the dreaded weekend in June when the floods came so bear that in mins when you read!!
The park is fairly basic and like many holiday parks the more you can upgrade the better. I paid barely £100 for three nights in a bronze (basic) caravan. The bronze caravans are fairly close together, but at the end of the day our family were only awake in the caravan for around 2/3 hours a day so what does it matter.
The pool is basic and the only slide is only open in the summer on nice days as you have to go outside to start the slide. The entertainers are good for a small camp and the drinks prices are the same as all parks.
BAD Points - the archery is for over 18's. The pool is basic and the slide is rarely open. The local Animilarium small zoo is very expensive. The staff should of gave more info about the floods, no signs or posters stating what roads were open shut even though they wre in constant contact with police/flood line.
Good Points - our caravan was very clean, a little worn ie missing light bulb, marks on walls but remember, this ain't Vegas! The food on sight is nice and filling

Room Tip: Basic was fine, and saved £50-70 on upgrading which we spent on the kids

Every school holiday (except half term Feb) my husband and I (both teachers)take the children on a caravan holiday. We have paid full amounts and sun holidays. We have always gone to Haven caravan Parks whichh cannot be faulted. We decided to try this park for a change. What a disaapointment. The caravan was absolutely stinking. It had ripped curtains and the screen of the television was held together with sellotape. We complained and we were told that they would stick it together with glue. We were concerned about health and safety but they didn't actually come back to repair it. The grease in the kitchen indicated that it had't be cleaned for a long time. My husband and |I spent day one cleaning it. Thhe toilets in the facilities were not fit for human use. The toilet checklist was last filled in at the beginning of May. They had bingo in the middle of thhe children entertainment. They threatened to ask the children to leave if they made too much noise. Thought this was a caravan site for children. They seriously need to sort out their timetable. We are trying out different parks as we are considering buying a caravan. We wouldn't even consider this park . We only stayed as we visited different villages. In future I will stick to clean Haven.

We had a fab holiday in this super friendly park. All the staff were very happy and chatty and ready to help. The weather was a bit pants towards the end of the week so we decided to take in some of the entertainment. There wasn't much going on even though it was advertised during the day. The aqua games consisited of four people in the pool for an hour! No one else turned up, still it was a free pool for just the four of them!!! Finished the week with the whirr of helicopters over head as other poor souls were airlifted out of there parks, not us though, we felt safe and secure and were off home.
Fantastic location on a lovely beach. Great for swimming when warm or crabbing in the rain. Would recommend, althougf it is a long way to go!

I'll be honest, after reading the reviews on here before going i seriously wasn't looking forward to going to Bryn Owen but im glad to say we had an amazing time there!

We arrived on Monday 28th May and was booked in for 4 nights sharing a caravan with another family. We were early arriving as check in for our caravan (bronze) wasn't till 4o'clock but we were allowed to use everything on site and we went for a well deserved drink while the kids went to the park. On going back to reception at 4 to pick up our keys the receptionist saw that we had 2 young children (aged 4 & 7) and swapped our caravan for one that was closer to everything!

Our caravan was very basic but i was actually quite amazed at how nice it was and roomy, to think there was 7 of us altogether we never felt that we were on top of each other. I did take a large saucepan, grater and other bits and bobs with me for 'just incase' but ended up having to use them but that was only because there was 7 of us so needed a big pan etc. They do have saucepans, cutlery, plates, bowls etc there already.
The only problem i found with the caravan was the beds, seriously not comfortable at all and because of this reason we would upgrade next time.

The entertainment team were absoloutly AMAZING!!!! We are hoping to book again to go back in September just so we can see the entertainment team again (hoping they'll still be there)!!! Martyn, Jordan, Becky & Charleen were fantastic, always had plenty of time for everyone and we laughed so much with them and had so much fun! In our party we had me and my husband, our 13 year old daughter, then our friend and her 3 children, a 14 year old girl, 7 and 4 year old boy and all of us loved the entertainment team. The 2 older girls had a go doing Bodyballs (very funny) and had a hell of a good time thanks to Martyn & Becky =)
There was a soul singer there on the monday night, the teamstars showcased tuesday night, a comedian on wednesday night (ill get to him in a minute) & Becky sang Cabaret on thursday night and they were all except the comedian amazing! Now the comedian, gosh where do i start...he was awful and i mean AWFUL!! His jokes were very blue, dirty jokes and there were young children there, he couldn't tell a joke to save his life, it was unbearably uncomfortable having to listen to him and if it had been our first night i think we would have left to go back to the caravan! Several families with children, at least 5 full tables, left while he was on.

On the Tuesday we visited Borth Animalarium (Zoo), it's just a short walking distance from Bryn Owen, about 20min away and it was a very enjoyable day, plenty to keep the kids amused and happy, also on the way there's a beach too.

The swimming pool was very basic but the kids loved it so we were happy.

The food was gorgeous there but if you fancy a change and a trip out of the caravan site you must visit a local pub just 10min drive down the road, it's called Rhyd y Pennau (i think it was something like that) and the food was absoloutly amazing there too and it was nice to go out for a drive and different scenery.

I would definitely recommend this caravan site, especially if you have children or if your a big kid yourself and loves to have a good time (which me and my friend are and were up dancing with the kids)!! Don't expect a load of things to do here as it is in mid-wales and about 30-40min drive away from attractions, but if it's a 'go-go-go' holiday you want then go to blackpool or somewhere!!!
