In a town which has long lost its Edwardian splendour the Gwesty Cymru is a wonderful gem of a restaurant right on the sea front. The menu was ideal for a lightish lunch, the cooking quite spectacular and the service superb.

Great food, reasonable pricing, good location, ticked all the boxes. Very reasonable lunchtime menu. Evening menu has good variety to suit all tastes. Have tried to book a room at the hotel a few times but with only a limited number available it is very difficult unless you are planning months in advance.

We dine here quite often, primarily on special occasions, and it never disappoints. The food is exquisite and the service very professional and welcoming.

The only downside is the size of the restaurant. It is quite small, which makes booking a table a necessity, especially at weekends. This also means there are two sittings for dinner, one at 6.30pm and the other at 8.15pm. This can be a bit of a nuisance, as 6.30pm is a little too early for my liking, and 8.15pm a little late! If you go for the earlier time, you have to vacate your table by 8.15pm. This is never ideal, but then again you never feel rushed by the extremely courteous staff, so this has never really been a problem for us.

All in all, highly recommended.

We booked Gwesty Cymru about 3 months before our visit and we were not disappointed.

The restaurant is small but this adds to the atmosphere. I have to recommend the welsh lamb main course which was amazing.

All the food is local produce and cooked in a modern cuisine way.

The staff were fantastic and attendigng to every detail.

Overall, I would highly recommend to anyone going to Aberystwyth.

One of the nicest and best places we have been to. Bedroom and en-suite were delightful, elegantly modern. Food was of very high quality, excellent ingredients, very well cooked and presented. Service was friendly but very professional. We look forward to returning.
