“Sunday lunch is excellent!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

We have never stayed at the hotel but have enjoyed Sunday lunch here several times over the last few years. We decided to visit today as I had forgotten to get the meat out of the freezer this morning!!
For £13.50 you get three courses with several choices for each course. Today I enjoyed breaded butterfly prawns with garlic dip, roast chicken with all the trimmings and lovely profiteroles with ice cream. Coffee is extra but you can have as many refills as you want. The food was truly delicious with generous portions. I couldn't eat all the chicken so the waitress kindly wrapped the remains in foil for our cat to enjoy.
We have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is variable and you do feel as if you are in a very old fashioned restaurant but if you don't mind that you do get fantastic value for money. It is also best to book in advance for Sunday lunch.
The outside of the hotel is in drastic need of a refurb but as the hotel was recently up for sale I would imagine that this has been put on the 'back burner'. I can't comment on any other aspect of the hotel though.

Stayed at the hotel on a Saturday night, attending an in-house birthday celebration. Our bedroom was very nice, but the bed was a bit creaky and the mattress felt like it needed replacing. Also, on a very warm weekend, we couldn't open the windows - they appeared to be painted shut! Other members of our group commented that they couldn't properly close their bedroom window (which was very close to the fire escape & could have posed a security risk).

Bar food was a bit expensive, compared to other local pubs, but the meals were good & the portions were huge! So much food was wasted, though - why not serve smaller portions & reduce the prices? Breakfast was delicious and, again, huge!

We found the staff to be helpful & polite, although sometimes they don't always sing from the same hymn sheet! Having initially been told that our rooms were not needed for the Sunday night and that a later check-out shouldn't be too much of a problem, many of the party were then hounded out, mid-morning. After having jumped around outside on a bouncy castle & needing to freshen-up, I had to get dressed for Sunday lunch in the ladies toilets!

The hotel is lovely, but it needs a face lift & some TLC. From little things, like making the frontage look appealing (e.g. some more flowering plants & a repair to the crumbly wall) to major stuff, like redecorating the public areas and making them look a bit more 'country house', rather than '80's lounge'. Even the tableware (bog-standard crockery & stainless steel milk jugs/sugar bowls) needs updating. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, but that probably had more to do with the people I was with & the function I was attending.

We came on a trip to my Uncle's wedding in Worcester! When we arrived in the hotel room, it was very 1980s! The food is great and I slept well. The Rooms were warm so we had to open various windows! The TV is tiny so we couldn't see very well, A lovely stay and I strongly recommend it!

After seeing the pictures of the Hundred House we decided to go there for a Valentines meal. We were happy to find they wern't doing a menu especially for the event, however the dining room was extremely dated and was not nearly as grand as ther website portrays.
The food was well priced and was defiantly worth the money. The Barmaid was good natured and polite and the food was served in very good time.
The hotel does need some big refurbishments as the interior lets the entire place down.
Despite the aged appearance we had a good night but would probably not be going back in a hurry if we wanted something with a bit of grandeur.

I was a little disappointed by this hotel, the appearance on the booking page made it seem like a slightly grand and comfortable country hotel, but in reality it is a decidedly old and scruffy, if slightly grand pub. The room was ok, but the double bed was too narrow and the room was not worth the price. Amusingly, the breakfast menu was misleading -a case of poor grammar leading to the wrong food. The few staff were kind and helpful to a couple with a baby, but the place seemed understaffed otherwise. A refurbishment and cheerier staff would transform this place into a more romantic hotel befitting the price.

Room Tip: Stay in the external accomodation.

We stayed here as it was close to a wedding venue at a private house. Oh, the rooms were quite dated and the bed was shocking. The mattress was at best old- and we both had sore backs on both nights we slept on it. The shower didn't have a steady temperature so it went from (literally) scalding to freezing and although there was no pressure to speak of in the water there certainly was when it was scalding.  The towels were new but that wasn't helpful for having to wash in the sink. The doors in all the rooms banged throughout the day and evening- surely a doorstop would help!- and the walls were so thin we could hear the gentleman in the room beside us whenever he used the facilities in his room.  As well as banging, the doors also squeaked when opened so we knew what time everyone got in at night. The bed coverings and blankets were very dated- it would have been better to just have a sheet and duvet on the bed. In fact the blanket on the bed- although clean- looked like something the dog would have. It was nice, however, that there were extra (new) pillows in the room.  The tv reception was terrible and when we did get some signal we could barely see it on the teeny tv screen- seriously, my iPad is the same size. Although we were not here to watch tv it would have been nice to have the option! Internet wifi was better in the main bar. The cooked breakfast was alright but arrived with old toast and tea served after we'd requested it twice. We were with a gay couple who had the worst room ever- no wifi signal, no tv signal and were forced to stay in a smelly room out the back that couldn't even be accessed through the main hotel. When we booked we were warned- but thought as we just needed a place to sleep and shower it would be fine- to be honest, I'd rather pay extra and stay somewhere where we were treated as guests and had small luxuries like a decent sleep instead of a cheap(er) price. I would not recommend staying here.

Room Tip: If you must stay here make sure you view the room BEFORE you unpack your bags!

We stayed here for 1 night as it was quite close to our friends Wedding venue. We paid £95 for an Executive Suite, with 4 poster bed and jucuzzi bath (as advertised). We were also told that if more than 10 wedding party members stayed, we would have a discount of £5. This was not to be the case as we booked via booking.com. The management did not feel the need to honour this discount as we didn't book it direct. We were basically told there was nothing he could do as we'd had already pre-agreed the price with booking.com. Before we arrived, we thought the pictures looked quite nice and the outside of the hotel was quite grand. However, upon approaching it, we noticed it was rather run down and located directly on the main road (no gardens/driveway leading up to it). The hotel is in desperate need of immediate refurbishment. The decor was very old and the staircase was extremely creaky! Once in the room, I was pleased with the size of the room as we did book an executive suite. However, the mattress needed replacing and the wallpaper was covered in water stains from old leaks from the above room. The facilities provided were ample. A small T.V. and Tea/Coffee etc.. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi bath was so old, I did not feel that I could use it. The bathroom was also fully carpetted. Even though the hotel was run down, we felt that we could live with that as it was very convenient for us. What we were not pleased with was the service. The receptionist could not even be bothered to call us a taxi. I quote,'the best I can do is get you a number!" The next day at breakfast, he told everybody the kitchen was closed even when we hadn't had all of our breakfast served to us. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Get the cheapest! It really doesn't make much difference.
