View from the tower breathtaking. Lots of really interesting history. King john's tomb, fine marble statues, named soldiers commemorated in pre 19th century wars...

Having wandered into the cathedral on a day out in Worcester, we discovered you could go right to the top of the tower and have views over the whole of the 'city'. The building itself is very impressive architecturally, and the tower is worth the fee to see the views of the malvern and cotswold hills, especially on a sunny day like today. (3rd April 2013) But also beware of taking on the steps if you are unhealthy- or broad shouldered, they are many and the width is unforgiving.

Fantastic building, tremendous history and great views from the top of the tower. The marble tomb of King John is just amazing.

Visited early January 2013. Architecturaly an impressive building. Very welcoming atmosphere. Staff approachable and very knowledgable. Cloister cafe of olde-worlde style recently refurbished. Cosy ambience. Value for money. Gift shop well stocked and just the right size too. Tour of Cathedral lasted about an hour. Cheap too. Guide was amazing and friendly also. Views from top of tower simply breathtaking, especially of Malvern hills to south-west.

Another day in a city, another cathedral visited. This time the fair city of Worcester. Sometimes it can get quite tedious extolling the virtues of these Gothic masterpieces strewn across the UK, but tedium be dammed! Another beautiful building, very ornate, the miserecords have to be seen to be believed - 13th century and as magnificent as when they were completed. The windows, especially the east window are fabulous and there is also the attraction of monuments to Edward Elgar, Stanley Baldwin, and the tombs of Prince Arthur (Tudor) and possibly the worst King (and there were a few) in English history - King John. Also worth noting are the small windows in the cloisters, memorials to those who fell in WW1 and other conflicts. Finally check out the bells that used to be in the tower, some as old as the early 1200's - amazing. Well worth a visit.
