I love this cathedral. I live in the city and visit frequently. It is steeped in history and is the burial place of King John and Edward the Balck Prince. It has a lovely gift shop and tea rooms and if you have the energy, you can climb the steps to the top of the tower from which you can survey three counties. Stunningly beautiful and If you can pick a time when the choir is singing, the accoustics are amazing.

For a cathedral to be free these days is rare and to go in and see the arcitecture here is worth a stop off.
Small shop and even a tea room now.
If you are in the area its worth a visit.

Worcester Cathedral viewed from the Old Bridge across the Severn has to be one of the most beautiful sights in England. Inside it is glorious, fascinating and boasts one of the great "what ifs?" of history. Prince Arthur's tomb begs the question, how diiferent would our history be if this boy had become our king instead of his younger surviving brother, Henry VIII?
The vergers, guides and other volunteers are most helpful to visitors and there is so much to enjoy in the cloisters, nave, chapter house and (for me, the best bit) the cathedral library which you can visit by appointment for a nominal fee.
I have taken family and friends, both old and young to the cathedral over the years I have lived in the city and all have been enriched by the experience. Music lovers are always in for a treat too if they attend when the organ is being played or the choir are singing.
