There are two stations in Malvern. There’s not a lot to choose between them in terms of location.
But Great Malvern Station is the one to visit for character. The original station is pretty much in tact and is very atmospheric. Certainly this is where to go if you want refreshments. The tea room serves good tea and coffee and tasty sandwiches. This used to be Lady Foley’s private waiting room and could double for ‘Brief Encounters’.
Add to this the convenience of regular, if somewhat infrequent, direct trains to London Paddington. What more could you want?

One of the few stations you would get out to enjoy. My particular favourite is Lady Foley’s tea room. Step back a hundred years for the atmosphere and memories, but excellent simple refreshment, My favourite is hot buttered crumpets with Marmite and a pot of tea.

I arrived & departed a few times from Gt Malvern Railway Station during July & August 2018 & visiting my parents in Upton Upon Severn being from Down Under.
Collecting pre-paid tickets was easy enough or if you prefer you could easily purchase tickets from inside the ticketing booth, most trains departed & arrived on time. The Station is clean with one Cafe & taxis normally waiting outside the main entrance, public bathroom available & a few seat benches on the platforms & finally a small carpark on the opposite side to the main entrance. One negative complaint if you're arriving on the train with big heavy suitcases it's not much fun if you have to change platforms with no Lift at the Station, then dragging the suitcase down some narrow steep steps & up towards the other platform.
Return Ticket I purchased From Birmingham International to Gt Malvern via New Street Birmingham.
Return Ticket from Gt Malvern To Church Stretton via Hereford.
Return Ticket to New St, Birmingham
Departed Gt Malvern to Birmingham International on 30/08/18 & returning to Australia & having to say goodbye to my parents is never easy.

One of the prettiest stations I have seen. The leaf and flower designs on the pillars are fantastic and well worth a visit even if you don't catch a train

It's sad, I know, but well-preserved old stations fascinate me and this is a little gem. The tea room on the platform is great and a step back in time.

Nice place to travel from, also you can get refreshments on the platform. Or take away coffee. Ticket machine at the end of the station, if ticket office is closed.
