Owner description: Nestling at the foot of the Malvern Hills, Malvern Theatres is a major centre for the arts in the West Midlands. Home of the famous Malvern Festivals, founded by Bernard Shaw and Barry Jackson in 1929, the theatre underwent a lottery-funded refurbishment in 1997. Hailed both locally and nationally as a model of artistic and architectural excellence, Malvern Theatres boasts one of the most diverse selection of plays, music, comedy, dance, film and education work to be found under a single roof anywhere in the country.

“Brilliant regional theatres and cinema”

We have attended several shows, musical productions (inc Joseph), music shows and film showings at Malvern over the last few months. The facilities are great - clean, bright, modern. The staff are always helpful. And of course, an overnight stay in Malvern is always a pleasure.

“A most excellent evening”

Birdsong at Malvern Theatre
The best play we've seen in the last couple of years. A moving and thought provoking insight into the agonies of the First World War and which proved to be better than both the book and the film. It is a stunning performance which left us holding our breath and sitting on the edge of our seats. The set is ingenious and, although a little puzzling initially, quickly proved, along with the lighting, to convince the audience that they are there in northern France in 1914 and leaving you lost in the show. The cast were outstanding and thrilled us by their acting, singing and instrument accompaniment all of which complimented and supported each other. If you get a chance don't miss it.

Ideal for a snack and a drink especially if you're seeing a show or going to the cinema, all in the same complex.

“Yet another perfect performance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

Didn't get round to writing about the fab performance of 'Abigail's Party' we saw in January but after another most enjoyable visit this week to see 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' I just have to say what a gem of a theatre this is! Attracting well known names and presenting a good range of comedy, drama and musicals, the entertainment is affordable, the seats comfy and the acoustics excellent. 'Joseph' really wowed us, we heard every word of Tim Rice's lyrics and especially enjoyed the children from the local Cecilia Hall Dance Centre whose singing accompanied the 'stars' throughout the whole performance - what stamina! Well done Malvern Theatres, thank you for always getting it right. See you in June for a good laugh at the comedy version of 'The 39 Steps'
