“Basil Fawlty lives...!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2011

We were a party of 10 busy ladies, meeting up for a catch up - as we're dotted all over the country - and a walking wk-end.
After parking at the rear of the building and walking round to the front (some distance) with our bags, it was a suprise not to be offered assistance with any of our luggage, from either the cars or to our rooms...a little ungentlemanly we thought.
We had pre-arranged an early check in but still caught the host on the hop, in that some rooms were not ready and this seemed to be an issue, not a problem for us although it seemed to agitate him...this set the tone during our stay.
Also, on arrival we were asked to pay for our rooms up front (before even seeing them), which made us all feel a little uncomfortable...as if we were going to do a runner!?
The rooms were a little tired but in good order and with all the facilities you would expect.
We had a lovely evening at The Thai Connection in Malvern, after an exhausting walk over the Malvern Hills, followed by a sound nights sleep.
Breakfast was a hurried affair for a Sunday, as checkout is a ridiculous 10am!
Being treated like naughty children didn't go down well either. Four of us came down seperately and chose to sit at two different tables, however, our host pointedly requested we sat at one table, as he said it was easier for him. One of us requested the butter and the host - standing next to the fridge - gestured and said curtly " It's in the fridge" and promptly walked off. That said, it was a fabulous breakfast.
As a group we paid £350 for 1 nights stay at this B&B, you would have thought someone in the hospitality business would have made us feel more welcome, particularly in these tough economic times and with "Inspector" type programmes aplenty.

I found the Pembridge to be clean, quiet, with an excellant breakfast and very helpful hosts. It also had a nice relaxing lounge. It was close to the town center, walking trails and had a nice pub / restaurant close by. I arrived in Malvern by accident and had only intended to stay one night at the Pembridge. However, I found Malvern and the Pembridge so enjoyable that I stayed there my remaining three days in England.

Excellent breakfast, friendly service and attentive owners. Room lovely and clean with corner bath and superb view. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and when we return to walk the Malvern Hills again we will definitely return to The Pembridge. Very convenient for twon centre - easy walk to the theatres.

We have stayed in the Pembridge on a number of occasions over the last couple of years whilst visiting family nearby. Our room and the facilities have always been exactly what we need and the owners are extremely accommodating which is why we keep returning there. Special mention for the breakfasts which are the best that we ever eat wherever we stay and set us up perfectly for the rest of the day.

We had an enjoyable stay here at this hotel/B&B at the end of May using two rooms.

The owners were very friendly, the rooms were clean and had all facilities we needed although our bath was a little short.

The TVs in both the rooms were small but we used the larger set in the lounge/bar whilst having a drink or two.

Hotel is more of a B&B than a full blown hotel but breakfasts were excellent and set us up well for the whole day.

Stayed here for a two night stay while attending a christening in Callow end. Owners could not have been more helpful and even arranged an early breakfast on the sunday morning. The hotel itsself is looking very dated and could do with a good dusting all over. This is classed as a licenced hotel but if the bar was in the Graham lounge it has definatley not been used this year. it did not look like it was stocked with anything and judging by the dust on the bar no polish has passed over it this year either. This hotel charges licenced premises prices when in fact it would do better to be classed as a bed and breakfast and not an hotel. No evening meals are available either so I really do not know how it rates to be classed as an hotel.

As commented in the first review, The Pembridge operates as a B&B Guest House and has done since 2004. We originally provided a Trust Bar in the Guest Lounge but the facility was so abused with the theft of alcohol that we decided to lock the content. There is a clear notice for guests who wish to purchase drinks on how to contact the owners for assistance.
Since the purchase in 2004 most of the bathrooms and the dining room and lounge have been refurbished or decorated and we are continuing to improve the property (built in 1867).

We stayed at this hotel in July 2005. Found the owners very friendly and helpful but the b&b itself was slightly disappointing - was expecting a charming victorian b&b but was a badly converted, grubby place. Thought the bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned properly, and was basically an old tired cupboard in the corner of the room with gaps in the walls where it had been built in some years ago! The hotel seems like nothing has been updated in 20 years, the tv in the room didn't even have a remote it was that old! It is on a main road so quite noisy. The bed was clean enough and fairly comfortable though, and the breakfast was very good, though we never did get our tea with it and didn't have time to wait so had to make our own back in the room....

We purchased the Pembridge as a B&B Guest House and have never tried to be equal to the Malvern Hotels. The customer never informed us of any problem so we were not given the opportunity to correct the situation or apologise for any ommision.
