“Pre-theatre meal”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

We had a delightful experience at the Malvern Theatre having purchased a Celebration Package for the evening's play "The Duck House". We arrived at 5.30pm at The Scene Bistro to be greeted by the Manageress who showed us to our table informing us that it was ours for the evening. We were served a glass of champagne and given a programme for the play. We had a a 3-course meal and a bottle of wine, with drinks in the interval, all inclusive in the package. The bistro had been recently refurbished in a modern style. The tables were spaced well apart with a pleasant atmosphere as the whole restaurant was buzzing with lively conversation! The meal was good with prompt service and the waiters efficient & friendly. The all inclusive package was very well managed and the combination of pre-theatre meal followed by the Play made the whole evening most enjoyable. I recommend the "Celebration Package" as a very reasonable price for a combination of meal, drinks and tickets.

“Good Choice for the Theatre”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

We had booked a package (hotel - The Abbey - Seats to see Barbara Dickson one night and Twelve Angry Men the next day matinee) so we thought we would try Scene (it was November and the less walking between hotel, restaurant and theatre was in order). The staff were extremely pleasant, and the food (for the price) was excellent. There was a reasonable choice and the house wines were inexpensive and really good. Service was good (none of the "is everything alright" every 5 minutes which many restaurants are guilty of) but tables cleared and food served in good time. Table was cleaned and fresh glasses provided for us to finish our wine during the interval. All in all a very pleasant start to the "culture" weekend. Both BD and TAM were excellent!

“Bland bland bland and a laughing waitress”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Bad news, visited on first night of "new menu". Service was very slow and food was terrible with no actual taste at all. We were assured that all the dishes had been tried out, but to us it was an evening to forget.

Cancelled the next nights booking. To end" the experience" when the desert eventually arrived, the ice cream was melting (assumed it had been sitting around in the kitchen), on complaining, the waitress thought it funny.

We did not. At present avoid this restaurant !

“Great Food”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

I visited this restaurant on the 3rd October 2013 pre to going to the Theatre.
We were greeted at the desk and shown to our table. The menu specials were relayed to us, alongside reccommendations from the menu. I opted for the British Beef Burger and all the trimmings. Our order was taken and in due course the food arrived as they knew we were attending the theatre.
The food was very nicley presented and tasted lovely with plenty of flavour.

“Unexpected”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Visited prior to seeing a play at the theatre. Whilst we turned up late due to traffic delays, not a problem and we received a friendly greeting. We were as a consequence a little short on time, but our order was taken quickly and the food came in plenty of time. We only had time for one course but well presented and reasonably priced. Restaurant was very busy and we were impressed with the surroundings and staff. Will be quite happy to return.
