We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend while my daughter was on a course, and I must say we were very pleased with all aspects of our stay. The location of the hotel is great, just around the corner from the theatre, restaurants and shops of Great Malvern. There is a big Waitrose nearby and Boots for essentials, although Great Malvern is quite hilly so not so easy to get around for those with walking difficulties.
The car park is behind the hotel down a hill so is quite steep to walk back up to the reception at the front. If you have heavy bags drop them at reception before you park your car. There is also limited on road parking at the front of the hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. After reading some other reviews on the hotel, we booked a superior double room to give us more space, and requested a room in the main building away from the function room. The hotel duly obliged and we had a lovely large room in the main building with very comfortable double bed, double sofa, coffee table and chairs, dressing table/desk, flat screen tv, tea/coffee making facilities and a lovely big en suite with bath and shower. The water pressure wasn't great but it just about did the job. There was a wedding function on at night and we didn't hear a thing!
On our first night we had dinner included. We were the only ones in the dining room and it was a little cool by the windows, but the food was exceptional. There was a three course set menu for £19.50 and it was worth every penny and more! The presentation was amazing, and the food was very tasty. There was also an A La Carte menu available.
Breakfast at the weekend didn't start until 8am, too late for us, so we ordered continental breakfast in the room which was perfect and delivered spot on time.On the Monday morning we ate breakfast in the dining room and although we arrived only 15 minutes before the end, it was nice to see that the breakfast buffet was still complete with plenty of choice. In fact, the staff asked if we wanted anything more before they started to clear away the buffet which was a pleasant change from other hotels we have visited.
All in all this was an extremely comfortable, relaxed stay and we will return to The Abbey.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building away from the function room, unless you are with the party of co...

We stayed here for two nights.the hotel is in the centre of Malvern, but very quiet.walk across to the wonderful abbey and the shops and restaurants.the theatre is a 2minute walk away.plenty of on sight parking.
The room we stayed in was spacious with a sitting area.flat screen tv,huge bed.super large bathroom.tea and coffee making facility.
Breakfast was great as we're the restaurant staff .we had afternoon tea,one between us would have been plenty! Lovely.
We also had dinner one night which was excellent.
We will certainly return again, especially as we got a really good deal when I phoned the hotel they undercut the online price.
Highly recommended.

Excellent location with easy access onto the Malvern hills. January is obviously a quiet month as for dinner the restaurant waas closed and we had to eat in the lounge /bar. On the whole the food was good and reasonably priced and the breakfast was also a good standard. The full english was unusual in that the baked beans were steaming - normally in my experience they are lukewarm at best! Rooms were comfortable although we couldn't turn the heating down so slept with the window open. Overall I would say good value right at the heart of Gt Malvern and great if you've gone there to walk the hills.

We stayed for a night having booked to watch 'Abigail's Party' at the theatre - a play set in the seventies - which is a bit what The Abbey felt like!
It's style, carpets, lights and elements of the service looked slightly dated - with a sensitive refresh this could be a fabulous hotel.
Our room overlooked the abbey, very impressive & atmospheric but the bells ring every hour which is a tad wearying at 2,3,4,5,6 & 7am...
Breakfast was excellent with obliging, attentive service.
We'd consider staying again especially if going to the theatre.

Room Tip: If sleep is important don't overlook the abbey!

Had a superior room at The Abbey and what a lovely all-round experience. Despite what we had read from other reviewers, we found our room was very, very clean with a 'huge' bed, electric fan, all the other conveniences you would expect (toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities, trouser press, tv etc). We were in the modern extension but had no 'noise' issues that others have experienced and I'm sure if we had encountered any major issues, that the very friendly staff including the cleaning staff, would have helped us sort them out. The breakfast was wholesome and included a huge variety of fresh juices, fruit, cheese and the traditional English. If I had one complaint it would be that the coffee was too weak! We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be visiting again as a base for further exploration of the Malverns this year. Highly recommend the Unicorn pub for its Ales and Benidictos for a delicious Italian meal.
Thank you 'The Abbey' for making our stay truly delightful.

Room Tip: Book a first floor superior room facing the hills at the back!

Booked the hotel for an overnight stay due to its location as a large group of friends and family were watching the excellent panto in the theatre just yards from the hotel.

It's a very big hotel with a conference centre and is a beautiful building and nestled between the Malvern Hills and the Abbey it is in a great setting.

However, the rooms, although spacious, are quite tired and were far too hot and very musky.

Breakfast was also very average.

Slightly disappointed with the hotel, which could be so much more.

Our family party of fourteen stayed at the Abbey Hotel for the four day Christmas Package. The hotel is in a lovely location, nice shops & theatre close by, the staff were very attentive and helpful, food excellent with plenty of choice.Champagne breakfast on Christmas morning, plus a visit from Father Christmas It was great value for money with lots of complimentary extras, I would definitely recommend it, would love to come back in the summer and walk the hills.
