We stayed in malvern for a Sunday night and both fancied Chinese so when to the Star Chinese and pub as this was the only option short if getting a take away.
The pub is rather out of the way in a quiet residential street about ten minutes walk from the Foley Arms where we stayed. We were welcomed warmly enough and decided to sit in the bar area as the restaurant was deserted and cold.
The menu is rather pricey for a Chinese so far out of the centre with a quarter duck priced at just under £14 and most mains ranging from £9 to £12.
Also the portions are average in size and on our question whether the duck and one main would be enough for two the waitress laughed. We ended up having two mains - sweet and sour pork and chicken satay. The food arrived fairly quickly and I found the duck ok maybe a bit on the salty side. The chicken satay was good but the pork consisted mainly of deep fried batter than meat. This with soft drinks only came to £50 which seems rather expensive for what it was.
All in all an average experience.
