Now managed by Bespoke hotel and refurbished, we stayed on a weekend break D,B&B and very nice it was. Food was excellent, Fine Dinning dinner and cook to order breakfast. The staff are new and finding their feet but are very helpful and willing to please. It had been open 2 weeks and the grounds were still a work in progress. The main house is in much the original finish of wood panelling with ornate carving. Except the bar which is decorated in a contemporary style. We stayed the pear tree mews, the rooms were completely refurbished to a high standard, large with extra king size beds. The rooms have little draw space storage and lighting in the rooms is subdued, but these are minor points given our beautiful stay.
Just returned from a two night stay at this (very) recently newly refurbished hotel. Stayed in the main house where the room (rm 210) was large, spotless and had a wonderful view over the gardens and the countryside into the distance, probably well worth the extra cost to stay in the main house. We had one dinner and two breakfasts and the food was a high standard with extra 'free' courses at dinner most welcome. The refurb' has maintained the classic feel of the original house whilst adding a modern twist. All the staff were helpful and enthusiastic. Would definitely recommend to others looking for a short break within easy driving distances of all the key Cotswold villages and towns.
We stayed at the hotel for our 5th Wedding Anniversary; my wife and I had held our wedding reception at Wood Norton hall (as it was then known) 5 years ago to the day, and we loved the location, setting and rooms.
This time we stayed in one of the suites, and I have to say it is the biggest and best hotel room I have ever stayed in (I have stayed in many hotels!!)! The Bathroom alone was bigger than many hotel rooms I have stayed in and was truly stunning with a huge double shower, and freestanding bath. The rest of the suite was very tastefully furnished. Thanks very much to Katie for the ongoing contact when booking the room, and for arranging such a special room for us on this special occasion. It was really appreciated.
We loved the hall previously to the recent refurbishment and can say that we were really impressed with the work which has been done – retaining the character of the hall while improving the bar area, and the décor throughout etc.
Compliments to the chef – all the food (Afternoon tea, sandwiches at the bar, 3 course dinner and breakfast) were lovely and dinner was very reasonably priced. Even if not staying I would definitely recommened eating here.
Finally, the staff without fail were very professional, friendly and welcoming, and really made the stay. If we hadn’t known that the hotel had only been open for a few days, we would never have realized.
We would definitely recommend it to our friends; as a wedding venue, hotel, or just for a special dinner. We are looking forward to further developments such as the planned Spa facilities. We will definitely be back!!!
Made a booking through Secret Escapes, so very reasonable. Room in Peartree Mews was newly refurbished, very nice, well equipped, but my wife said very dark, especially if eyesight not great. No lift in the Mews.
Did not have dinner in restaurant. Breakfast was very nice indeed.
I think that when the grounds are landscaped they will be very nice.
Car parking a little hard, as up a steep slope, with stairs down to hotel.
Newly refurbished and reopened only last week, if you are after a restful break with a great wine and dining experience, you must come here!
We have just spent two evenings at the hotel and the staff were just great, the rooms very tastefully furnished (the beds were so comfy, that I am now desperate to replace the one we have at home!), and the quality of the food in the restaurant, both for breakfast and dinner, were of the highest standard (the halibut fillet served with crab Risotto was just so mouth wateringly excellent). It was also nice to see that the bar included a well stocked range of Malt Whisky on offer.
Come stay at Wood Norton Hall - you will not leave disappointed!
