Welcome at reception: 10/10 Lovely bubbly welcome
Cleanliness of room: 10/10 My wife is very particularly and it is rare that she is impressed, but she was!
Attention to detail: 10/10 The room seem to have been very carefully thought through so that everything you needed was to hand including a second shelf in the bathroom to hold toiletries etc
Food: 10/10 I had what was probably the best cooked breakfast that I have had in any hotel anywhere and dinner was also excellent
Sense of humour: 10/10 We enjoyed the quirkiness of the hotel and the sense of humour of the owner. A room key attached to a teddy bear is fine by us as are the joke books in the bar and the humourous notes in the rooms eg about saving the planet single handed etc etc.
Overall: 10/10 If you want a bland plastic hotel don't go to the Evesham, but if you enjoy something out of the ordinary and some English eccentricity at its best then you will love this place.

Stayed here for work just for one night. As soon as you walk in you know it's going to be different, staff are great very helpful and efficient. Room bit dated but ok, bathroom clean and functional. Evening meal was exceptional, well presented and very tasty. Owner is a bit strange, few silly rules, 1500 different drinks in the bar! Overall quite fun, but not longer than one or wo nights.

If you like Teddy Bears this is the place for you. Even the key ring is a bear with a name, stops you putting it in your handbag although they would not let us take Bruce out to dinner. The room was large but decorated in a somewhat oppressive classical style with some instructions in latin. Many of the room are on the ground floor with a pleasant outlook over the extensive garden.
The shower is in the bath and be very careful if standing on the mat as it slipped under my feet and I ended up on the floor, fortunately unhurt.
We did not have dinner here so cannot comment on the food and the wood-panelled dining room was impressive, but breakfast was good.
There are several Indian and other restaurants nearby. .

I stay in many hotels each year in the UK and abroad and from the glowing reviews thought this place would be something really special.
BUT....the decor is stuck in the 70's, patterned borders and lots of tacky pictures and clutter, endless 'Do and Don't' laminated signs, piles of leaflets and brochures on every surface. The owner, John Jenkinson (Frequently mentioned in reviews) hovers around doing his 'unfunny' comedy routine... please, avoid at all costs!!.
There are some positive points. The hotel is set in attractive grounds, the staff are very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. The dining room decor is very elegant. (Must be with outside help?). Think the owners need to understand hotels have moved on...keep the interior clean, fresh, simple and uncluttered! and banish Mr Jenkinson to the office to print more signs!.

We stayed at The Evesham for two nights last weekend and had the most amazing time thanks to the owner John and his wonderful, loyal staff !
The rooms were spotlessly clean and the tea and coffee making facilities second to none. The grounds were so beautifully kept that we actually stayed within the hotel more than we had initially planned.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who obviously loved their jobs! it is so far removed from the usual souless chain hotels and John is a true character with lets just say..quirky tendencies!
We are already planning to go back this year and taking my Beano-loving ADULT son with us....
I almost dont want to give too much away....just go and enjoy the experience for yourselves.
Dont bother going to eat anywhere else..the food is exquisite.
Thanks John, your wife and your wonderful staff for an unforgettable weekend,,,see you hopefully in November !

This is an amazing hotel. Where else do you find a tropical fish tank under the bathroom sink, flippers and snorkel in a very nice pool area with table tennis and more, a working Sinclair c5, and owners who will happily lend you a car, if you are wanting to go out for dinner?

But the meals in house are amazing anyway, and breakfast has a selection of FIFTY brands of cereal!

There are trampolines and giant bowhead whale jawbones in the spacious grounds, and little touches like hand washing fluid in all bathrooms. Frankly, I think the place deserves a fourth AA star.

The one thing that niggled slightly was something about the free and otherwise good quality wifi, which meant you have to repeatedly click to accept its terms and conditions, every few hours. But I would think this is something the somewhat Fawlty Towers-esque owners John and his wife will fix when they read this, as it'd be a simple settings change, as they seem able to accommodate pretty much any request.

Basil Fawlty is perhaps a slightly unfair description of John, but the chances are some visitors may be put off by his sense of humour. Expect to be delicately insulted every time you see him, with a stuffed Dennis the Menace or monkey hanging round his neck.

But John manages to make up for it with an incredibly extensive wine list, with hundreds of different varietals. They were the even first people outside of the Chilean embassy, to bring Chilean wine to the UK's win lovers. Overall highly recommended.

Stayed recently for work and was overwhelmed at how good this hotel is.
Rooms are great and spacious, I stayed in the Egyption room which was great,
The staff are very friendly and helpfull.
And as for the breakfast, well, words dont do it justice! AMAZING!

Room Tip: Try and stay in a themed room
