“Best pub in Broadway!”
Reviewed December 12, 2011

My wife and I stayed for the second time at the Crown & Trumpet last weekend. What a fantastic pub! It was every bit as good as the first time we stayed there, if not better because of the excellent range of Christmas ales on offer and the choice of malt whiskies isn't bad either! Accommodation very comfortable, best night's sleep for a long time - mind you the malt whisky probably played it's part!! Food was very good with a breakfast to die for. A big thank you to Andrew and his staff for making us feel welcome and our stay a comfortable one. We'll be back!!!

My wife and I stayed with our friends arriving late afternoon on Sunday 4th December 2011. Found parking no problem outside the pub, met by the staff with a friendly welcome. Rooms were comfortable and clean. After a walk around Broadway we decided to eat at the Crown and Trumpet, all plates were left clean, food was fantastic. 4 Christmas real ales were available and were excellent,"Lord's a Leaping" won the vote. Breakfast was good with full English available, although some of us decided to have a lighter breakfast! A pleasure to visit and the staff were very attentive, Helen was very good and was able to enlighten us on that tastes and textures of the ales we'd encountered the night before. Star of the stay was the cat that slept in the window seat. Will definitely be going back.

Went here as a birthday treat for myself and girlfriend. Arrived around 7pm and parking was an issue although there is a public car park around 2/3 mins walk away around the corner which is free after 6.30pm. Typical country pub with log fire in the corner. Staff were helpful and accomodating and when a parking space was available the young lady even advised me when it was free. Met the manager Andrew who gave us both a warm welcome too.

The room was fine, noticed the bed was quite high (,my first comment to the other half). No thrills but comfortable and functional. Shower and towels clean and worked with no issues. Slept well and the breakfast was very good and Andrew spent a few minutes answering my questions about the area.

Overall a very nice place to stay, warm helpful staff and not overpriced definately would come back if visiting the area again.

We are all very pleased that my team made it a very nice Birthday treat. Its the deep mattresses that we have that make the beds a bit higher but as you say are really comfortable. It was cold day then but glad that the open fire added to the atmosphere. Merry Christmas to you and your family

My wife and I visited here on a rare night away from the kids in early November. A late cancellation meant that we got a booking at the last minute - owner was very helpful in arranging the booking.

Minor gripe to start with, parking is a real issue at the Crown & Trumpet as there are only about five parking places (it would have been useful to know this before we arrived) and all spots were taken when we arrived at lunchtime and they remained occupied throughout our stay. We were advised to park in the short-stay car park around the corner which obviously isn't ideal as we were keen to ditch the car and enjoy a relaxing meal with a few drinks without having to drive the car afterwards (bearing in mind drinking and driving etc). However, there wasn't a space to be had in the short-stay car park anyway. We spent 20 minutes driving backwards and forwards between the pub and car park with no luck, so a slightly frustrating beginning to our stay. In the end we parked on the main road just outside Broadway and walked the 10 minutes back to the Inn.

I mention the parking issue just to advise future visitors because that was the only blot on an otherwise very enjoyable stay. Our room was clean and comfortable with a delightful bed and great shower etc. We went for a walk around Broadway which is an attractive village, if a little pricey.

We popped into the other pubs in the village during our stay and the Crown & Trumpet is undoubtedly the best for ale/food as well as the atmosphere, welcome and character. For our evening meal we both plumped for the steak which was superb and washed down with some tremendous real ale, my personal favourite being the Wizards Brew brewed specially for the pub.

The evening came with the added bonus of some acoustic entertainment supplied by a couple of very talented guitarists/singers playing mainly hits from the 60s/70s/80 which was right up our street. A great way to end a very enjoyable night.

Breakfast was hot, fresh and tasty and served by a very friendly, chatty waitress.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Perhaps the price is a litte steep but I guess it's the going rate for Broadway and this place is certainly worth paying an extra few quid for.

Thank you both for your very kind and generous comments. With the Christmas dishes and Christmas beers just coming on !! Being in the central part of the Village, were as most of the other B&B's are half a mile outside, we have some limited parking outside the Inn though having one of the main car parks just around the corner usually fulfils our requirements. Looking forward to welcoming you both again

We've stayed at this inn several times over the last 20 years or so, and we've never been disappointed. Andrew and his staff are very friendly and hospitable, the food is excellent value as well as very tasty, and the draught beers are a pleasure to consume!
We will be back. We've previously stayed at the Lygon Arms, which was great, but in a completely different price range, so if you're looking for a friendly and charming inn in the cotswolds, Broadway is the place and the Crown and Trumpet is the inn you're looking for. Keep up the good work Andrew.

Stayed 3 nights at the Cown and Trumpet and enjoyed every moment. This is a family run operation and the owner Andrew is a real people person. As a matter of fact, all the people that work at the inn are fantastic. We were made to feel at home and if we needed something all we had to do was ask. The room we had was ensuite and was well decorated and more importantly very clean. The breakfast each morning was excellant and other meals we ate at the inn were also really delicious. Each Thursday the inn has a Jass or Blues Night and this too was really enjoyable. All in all, if you are looking for a friendly place to stay that is clean, with good food, fine ales and great entertainment in a really pretty Cotswolds town, then the Crown and Trumpet is the place to stay.
