Poor excuse for an Indian, such a shame as its a beautifull building but the staff are not friendly and the food is well below average

“Don't bother! ;(”
Reviewed February 20, 2011

We arrived on a Friday evening late and had a very poor meal here, but thought that as it was 10 oclock they were all ready to close. The next day was the Saturday of our holiday in the Cotswolds we tried lots of places but they were all booked so we had little choice but to give them another try ...we we wrong, the treating was fine, then we were rushed to be seated, the service was rude and very rushed. Popadoms and pickles were fine but the rest of the meal could have come from the out of date section at Asda if you ask for water they with your wine they are very unhappy. I have had lots of Indian meals and this is definitely one of the worst, but the worst part is the terrible service... Something out of Dusk till dawn movie.... Could be a great place ... But the reasons offered arevwhy you can get a table in this shoddy joint when every where else is fully booked!,,

“abysmal”
Reviewed August 2, 2010

We have planned a weekend break away so had phoned and reserved a table over the phone for 22:30 the next evening.(we was going away for my girlfriends birthday)
We arrived at sheikhs and stated our reservation, only to be greeted with a worker behind the bar saying the last reservation was 21:30.
We stated we had the time log of our call the previous evening, only for the worker to start aggressively slamming cups and saucers down on the bar what he was drying at the time.
We were (after much complaining from the staff),shown to a table where we ordered poppadoms and our meal.
We were enjoying our poppadoms only to be constantly watched over by staff, (coming up and looking over my girlfriends shoulder), making me and my girlfriend feel very uneasy and unwelcomed.
During eating our poppadoms our main meal was brought out and although my girlfriends was dished up, mine was thrown and banged down in the middle of the table and left, so going cold as we finished our now rushing down poppadoms.
The main meal was poor to say the least, the chicken tikka was bland and the chicken madras of poor standard, but it is hard to enjoy a meal if your constantly being watched and rushed.
I have never complained ever about food, but felt obliged to this time as it had soured my girlfriends lovely day, only to be greeted by we hadn't reserved a table (I offered to show them the time and date of the reservation from my phone call), they said we were over 15 minutes late so what else do we expect (we were at tops 5 minutes late), we even said if we had even been told it was 21:30 last reservation we would have booked this time.
Whilst complaining about the meal all I was greeted with was the bill given to me and a waiter saying £30 please come again constantly.
We left quite disgusted at our very shoddy treatment and left at 23:10,only to see the restaurant turn its lights off and close (its official time is 23:30).
We had been made made to feel very welcome by all the village shops and pubs (especially our guest house owners) only to have this marred by such abysmal service and food, it is the only blot on otherwise fantastic weekend, WE WILL NOT BE RECOMMENDING THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE

“A bizarre and disappointing experience...”

A bizarre and disappointing experience. The food was brightly coloured but not very flavoursome, and the service was indifferent and inattentive, with a real lack of communication amongst the staff.
