I love this place. Booking is a must as its titchy but the food, the wait staff and the atmosphere are fantastic.

Upon arrival at the restaurant, we waited 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order for a drink and meal. We then waited for an hour for our starter to arrive. The food when it arrived was ok, but did not think it had the wow factor. All in all, for the restaurant ranked no.1 in Windsor by trip advisor when we went there, we were extremely disappointed.

This was a great new find for us in Windsor, away from all the chain restaurants and tourist traps.

We visited on a Saturday evening, and the atmosphere was busy yet relaxed, helped along by the ethnic decor and warm confidence of the staff. They were ready to make suggestions and keen to please without being intrusive.

The menu has plenty of tempting choice, with a great selection of vegetarian dishes that was much appreciated by one of our party. You can order individual starters or a selection for a minimum of four to share. The same goes for the main courses. Nice to see Moroccan wines and beer on the menu, and I enjoyed a house cocktail too.

We all really enjoyed our starters, and when the main arrived there was an element of showmanship with the removal of the tagine lids to reveal the fragrant smelling dishes within! We were brought our choice of couscous or rice, with the promise of more if required, but there was so much in the tagine itself that not much more was needed with it.

We didn't make it to the dessert menu as we were so full - another time maybe!

Having organised evenings out at many of the restaurants in Windsor & Eton, this one still outperforms most others - to the extent that many friends now complain if I try to organise a night out elsewhere. For large groups, we let the restaurant do their variety of dishes - had groups up to 50, for entertaining both friends and corporate events, and never had an issue to date for over ten years. Never written a review for this place, as have just taken consistent high quality of service for granted. Having just read a recent poor review, I'm surprised given most recent track record. Unsurprisingly, the owner's response speaks for itself - Gracious and humble in the face of harsh retrospective criticism - feel bad for customer, as not great to have a disappointing night out - But You can bet he'll do everything in his power to make amends.

Like other good eateries, you'll notice that the owner's influence and presence in both the kitchen and front of house really makes a difference to the whole dining experience.

Five of us went to Al Fassis for dinner - we were visitors to Windsor and didnt know our way around. Everyone was getting a bit fed up with me as they were convinced I was leading them in the wrong direction.....but were all pleased that we had made the effort to find it (it wasn't difficult!) fab meal and service - couldn't fault it!!
