We booked a 'secret escape' to stay at this hotel. Such a great location, and on arrival the jazz player (not for us - a pre wedding event) greeted us, it felt like a fun summer evening in the dark October night.
Located very close to the station and on the river, we enjoyed being a tourist of the castle, shopping, dining and drinking...we were so exhausted we did not make time for the spa, our one regret.
Enough about the location, the service in the hotel was exceptional, although we were disappointed our room did not look anything like the description and photos of our booking it was very clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed a set menu in the hotel on the Friday night, and breakfast on Sat and Sun before checking out. The food was good quality, and value for money.
The hotel is very sympathetically restored and converted into a hotel - it was the house of Sir Christopher Wren, some parts of it felt full of memories past, and the stairs authentically creaked, so full of character.
We had a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate in recommending this hotel - a fabulous venue for a celebration.

Room Tip: Check out the hotel website for description of rooms this is more accurate to see what you are getti...

Dear Mary H,

thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay with us here at the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel.

I was thrilled to read that you had such a great time and that you got to enjoy some of the wedding entertainment too. Maybe it made you think about coming back in spring already, when the sun is hopefully out a bit more again and you could enjoy an evening on our terrace?

The team always really appreciate guest feedback and your comments about our 'exceptional service' made everyone smile even more than usual.

Please do contact me directly prior to your next stay, so that I can help making sure you get the style of bedroom you prefer.

we are 3 couples who go away for our anniversary together every year. Usually there are 4 couples but unfortunately this year, one lady was ill and was unable to come. Although I had already booked and paid for 4 rooms on a special non-refundable offer, the hotel vedry kindly gave us a refund for the unused room due to the circumstances. We thought this was excellent service and was much appreciated. Even though our rooms were not in the main hotel - they were just across pedestrianised road - they were fantastic. We were in the middle of Windsor on a Saturday night but there was no noise at all. The setting was lovely - right on the river with river views from the didning room. Breakfast was buffet style with a good choice and was very enjoyable. We booked parking at the hotel which was extra but worthwhile as we did not want to leave the cars in a public car park. We all had a lovely time at this very impressive hotel.

My wife and I have just spent a weekend at the Sir Christopher Wren hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday. I don't know where to start to mark this hotel out of ten. On arrival I had paid for the indulgence pack which contained chocolates, flowers and champagne to be arranged in the room when we got there. The flowers in particular were amazing. The staff are ever present and help and assistance is plentiful and nothing is too much trouble. My wife also had a half day spa experience which she enjoyed immensely as the staff again were very helpful. We ate breakfast and ordered our evening meals in the restaurant. The breakfast is great. Choosing from continental or English and there's lots of it if you wish. The evening a la carte menu is just beautiful. The room we were in was absolutely spotless and the beds were changed twice in two days. Our room was not in the main building but across the road in the annexe and we were also on the top floor which meant we had to climb two or three flights of stairs but this was not a problem for us. Although we had to check out at 11am, we were aloud to leave our luggage with the concierge while we did some last minute shopping. This hotel should not be rated as a four star. We would give it six stars. A truly wonderful weekend thanks to the staff at the hotel. We're already planning to go back soon. If you're looking for a hotel to stay in while you are in Windsor then this is it. The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel. Ten out of ten for everything.

Room Tip: If you are not good with stairs, make this clear when booking as there is no lift in the building ac...

Just returned from a weekend break at this lovely hotel. I must say I was a bit worried given some of the reviews on here however we found the hotel to be lovely. From booking to departure the staff and service were excellent, really friendly and always happy to help. I can't remember when we last got such a genuine welcome at reception. If you have a car contact the hotel prior to arrival to book parking as space is limited, you'll get perfect directions and they take your keys for the duration of your stay so they can shuffle the cars around, they ask for 15 minutes notice if you want your car and when you do they bring it to the front of the hotel for you.
Our room was a good size with a comfortable bed and all the usual complimentary bathroom bits, a hair dryer, desk space, comfy chairs, tea and coffee facilities and an iron and ironing board. I'm sure if you needed anything else they'd have found it of you asked. We were told there is a programme of refurbishment at the hotel so I guess there may be some difference in the standard of decor across the bedroom stock.
If you do have any mobility issues let them know on booking as the hotel is converted from old houses and there may be many stairs to your room. As it's a listed building they're not allowed to instal a lift so be mindful if you need an easily accessible room. The are a number of snug, beautifully decorated anti-rooms in which to enjoy a drink or read and a large terrace over looking the river which I imagine is a beautiful spot in the summer to sit and watch the world go by.
We stayed on a DBB rate; dinner was from a limited menu and the food quality was excellent. Breakfast was great, the quality and choice of food on the buffet was really good and if you were lucky enough to get a river view table the views were glorious.
It's a 5-10 minute walk to the castle (depending on how many restaurant menus you read along the way), 10 minutes walk across the bridge to Eton, about 2 minutes from the train station and easily accessible by car.
Would we go back? Absolutely. I'm planning our next trip for the summer.

Dear Robert H,

thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us in Windsor.

I was sorry to read that your TV was not working during your stay and have addressed this with my housekeeping and maintenance team, as the TV checks are part of our daily routines, but clearly did not happen for you. Please accept my apologies for this.

Some of our rooms are not straight forward to access, as the grade 2 listing of the building limits what we can change, but manage this well, with luggage service available 24 hours a day and all easy access requests accommodated.

Please let me know when you get to travel over from Birmingham, Alabama next and I will personally oversee your reservation and allocate a lower floor room for you.

Warm regards

My husband & I recently stayed at this hotel. We chose it as it was nicely centrally located in Windsor. The rooms were a bit dated, however they were clean & the staff were friendly & helpful. The full English Breakfast was indeed 'full' & we were able to sit by the river & watch the scenery. If you are using the train for travel, it is a short walking distance away.
