This hotel was a rushed booking with a special rate if you paid in advance. So this was real value for the money. The Wren is a very classy hotel in a magnificent location in the heart of Windsor. situated on the walking bridge over the beautiful Thames between Winsdor Castle and Eton. You really feel like you are in olde England of the Kings and Queens!

We had 2 nights here at Easter. I asked for a room with a view and the lovely reception staff were able to accommodate this request. We had a balcony overlooking the river , watching the swans and boats glide by. We must have been lucky but we couldnt't fault our stay. The room was small but beautifully appointed, lovely bathroom , Internet and quiet. We had a balcony and were in the main hotel on the River.

We had breakfast which was extra and it was very good. A few mins into the heart of Windsor and the magnificent Castle.

I would highly recommend it for comfort, cleanliness and location. Our room was beautifully appointed. It is only a few mins from Heathrow and an easier place to negotiate after a long flight than London. The train is 3 mins walk and a comfortable 1 hour trip into London. We could park our car at the station car park.

Room Tip: We booked a special rate and paid in advance and asked for a room with a balcony.

the only positive thing to say about this Hotel concerns the staff, they were at least polite. We picked it because of the location and the brochure did portrait an attractive hotel, we expected an old building and creaking floorboards but nothing prepared me for the peeling paintwork and the threadbare carpets, but it was only for one night so made no fuss. Unfortunately it was probably the longest night of my life the bed was so hard it was impossible to find rest i ended up sleeping sitting up and couldn't get out of there quickly enough in the morning, i understand you get wheat you pay for but this was way over priced for what it was

Room Tip: Book another Hotel!

Stayed one night in an annex to the main hotel. The stairs carpet was full of holes and filthy. The room was small and full of useless bits of old furnature which just cluttered the room. The bed was tiny and could hardly be discribed as a double. The curtains were hanging off the hooks and the bathroom was seperated from the bedroom with little more than a plywood partition which was far from sound proof. The whole room needed a good clean and a lick of paint.
Breakfast was OK and the staff were very helpful, but not enough to make me want to return. A great location but very poor accomodation.

Room Tip: Hope you get a room in the main building

We stayed here one night on our arrival from Heathrow. We had booked a twin and the room they gave us could be barely classified as a single!!! We were way too tired to haggle with them to try to get a bigger room. All I can say to management, if you have "better" rooms available, why on earth would you give a customer, the WORST room in the place????
I can honestly say the room was awful, cramped and very uncomfortable.
Don't stay here unless they can give you a "better" room.

After 4 nights in this hotel last week, I am left with very mixed feelings. On the positive side, our room was very comfortable. I had my best sleep thus far in the nice bed at the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel. We stayed in a room in a building across the street from the main hotel. The hotel is ideally located in Windsor, near shops and pubs and Windsor Castle. It's also near the bridge to Eton, which is a short walk away. The views of the Thames (didn't have one from our room) are marvelous.

On the negative side... Service was really bad in the restaurant and lounge. Laughingly bad. That was unfortunate, because the food was pretty good. The Thames view from the restuarant is also lovely. The hotel decor is tired - frayed fabrics and peeling wallpaper. This is a charming old hotel that should be treated more lovingly by its operators.

Our building across the street had very lax security. For 3 out of the 4 nights we were there, the door to the street was not locked. Finally, our last day, the door was closed and locked and required a hotel key card for entry. Why it wasn't always secured in that fashion is beyond my comprehension.

The front desk agents were polite and helpful. Our stay was not unpleasant - but certainly not memorable. I would probably explore alternatives in Windsor for a better experience, if I have a chance to return.

Room Tip: A room with a Thames view would be nice.

Booked this hotel cos seemed like the price was great for what I wanted to surprise my partner with. I was pleasantly surprised on arrival that the receptionist greeted us with a birthday wish as I previously stated that my partner had a birthday on that day, so I was demanding a room with a great view. As we arrived earlier we could leave our stuff there and enjoy the Windsor castle - yes, we were lucky to have a great sunny day in February. The hotel is great: a nice building, stylish design, just by the river, extremely close to Windsor castle and the room we had was wow: we didn't have a single complaint and we had a beautiful terrace overlooking the river. We could have even used the facilities but unfortunately didn't have enough time for all.
We are definitely recommending the hotel. If you want to enjoy the beauties of Windsor, that would be the perfect place for you to stay in.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the river.
