Well, my 6 (boy), and 4 (girl) year old were happy from the moment we pulled up outside the smoke breathing dragon!!
Check in - Easy, kids could play in the Lego pit whilst adults were doing the grown up bit - 24 hour shop here too (Mainly Lego with a few toiletry items) - No where to get a paper within the hotel except a couple of complimentary copies in the bar.
Lifts - They talk ! My 4 year old didn't like them, so we used the stairs the rest of the holiday, but the boys had a great time!! Only 2 though and quite small, so peak time may be a problem. But once checked in its only 4 floors, and majority of what you want is on level 2
Room - We stayed in a standard kingdom room. It had enough decoration to make it different from a standard hotel room, but the layout was exactly the same. Tea coffee, and hot chocolate all supplied and replenished which was a nice addition. Kids loved the treasure hunt, and the prize at the end ( I wont spoil it !) The kids have their own tv, and can access the films (additional charge) - so just be careful they don't get carried away.
We had a look at the pirate and adventure floors and all were decked out appropriately, we wouldn't have been disappointed with any of the themes (kingdom is on level 2 - same level as the restaurant and play area but wasn't noisy, pirate is level 3, and adventure is level 4)
Play area - Really all it is is a big tree, and castle with stairs Lego pits, and tv, but my kids loved it (older kids might get bored). This is also the stage at night for the disco. The bar is opposite with lots of seating, but could imagine finding a seat peak season may be difficult.
The restaurant - Next to the play area, food was good and plenty of selection, although the 2 nights were exactly the same options (might be because of being off peak - but enough selection for something different). Kids own selection as well which had healthy options. Again decoration is excellent, and the adults stayed on in the restaurant whilst the entertainment started and kids went to watch - felt very secure
Breakfast was great, and kept us going until the evening.
Level 2 is also the entrance level to the park
Everywhere was really well decorated even the toilets - look out for the sinks, and the whoopee cushion !!
Pool - Yes it was small but perfect for the children. Has a small swimming pool (only 1.2 m no shallow/deep end) and directly opposite the pirate play area with 2 x slides, see saw, water fountains/jets etc. Again imagine this could be busy peak time, but then there is a restricted use of an hour I believe. Towels are provided (free of charge) lockers are refundable £1. Not many lockers/showers , so get ready before you go down would be my advice
Overall we had a fantastic time, 2 nights were plenty, and if we had stayed any longer think we would have ventured out to Windsor (free parking opposite the hotel) but there is a bus service, but if you were there during the peak time there would be plenty to do - have a lovely holiday :)
