Legoland Windsor Resort Hotel
Ranked #5 of 19 Hotels in Windsor
Reviewed October 10, 2012 via mobile

We stayed at the Legoland Resort Hotel in Windsor for 3 nights and enjoyed ourselves enormously. Our kids were so excited by the exterior of the hotel and the dragon, and this excitement continued as we entered the lobby, the lift and then explored our room. We had no issues with checkin. We loved the decor of our Kingdom room. It was late, but we had a terrific meal at the Skyline Bar and our kids enjoyed playing in the play area. Breakfasts at the buffet restaurant Bricks were fine and the staff were great. We loved the park and spent one full day and then the following morning in Legoland. We didn't use the swimming pool at the hotel but it looked great. We were really happy with our stay at this hotel.

We recently stayed at the Legoland Windsor Resort Hotel. From the minute we walked through the main door of the hotel the kids went crazy!

We booked the Pirates Room and we were not disappointed. Our kids aged, 7, 5 and 2 were overwhelmed and it took a while for them to settle down to sleep that night.

The older kids took the bunks and there was a pull out bed for our 2 year at the bottom of the bunks. Even though we were all in the one room they felt that they had their own space and of course their own TV was a great bonus. A word of warning though, make sure you block the TV as we didn’t realise until we were checking out that our daughter who is 7 had ordered films to the worth of £40.00!! It was clearly written down in the hotel information book (so nobody to blame but ourselves) that a block could be put on the TV in the children’s section of the room…..we will read the information book from now on!

The room was spotlessly clean and the Lego features on the wall were excellent. Bathroom was small but was big enough for what we wanted. The detail in the room was very good, wee Lego pirate stickers on the toilet roll, pirate 3-D carpet, Lego for the kids to play with, a treasure chest with a pressie for the kids which they had to work out the code. Room was on the 3rd floor and was nice and quiet at night. One complaint I would say is that our bed was like lying on Captain Bluebeards plank….really hard and uncomfortable! Myself and my husband always disagree on beds! I like a soft mattress where he likes a hard mattress, but he even said that it was too hard.

Bricks Restaurant was good. I would agree with other peoples posts that the seating is starting to get grubby. I don’t really know what they could do apart from having plastic type seating…like Mc Donalds. Although this would give a cold effect. Food was good, as good a buffet standards are. Yes a bit pricey but I suppose the whole idea of eat all you like is convering it! Sausages like other people posted did look a bit on the pale side so I stayed away from them! Bacon the same. 2 year old ate for free, not to say a bird would have ate more than him anyway!

Breakfast was included in our hotel price and one thing I would say if you’re like us and don’t get up very early then you will be disappointed with the breakfast. They just seem to run out of food! No white/Brown bread for toast, no milk (you have to ask them), cereals gone etc! If a restaurant says that breakfast is between 7-10am then you should be able to get a full breakfast at 5 mins to 10!

Staff were helpful. Ate one night in the skyline bar. Food was very good here. A bit of a wait. Had to queue at the bar for a drink!? And I mean stand for more than 5 minutes with maybe just 2 people ahead of you getting served and 2 people working behind the bar. And then when you finally did get served it was another lifetime but you got your drink! In saying that the staff were very nice behind the bar and you wouldn't hold it against them for the delay. Entertainment for kids was good.

Pool was excellent. They supplied the towels. Really geared for young children.

All in all we had a great time. The location of the hotel was perfect and if you were up early enough, which we never were you could gain entry to the park a half an hour earlier than the public! Would recommend it and would definitely go back!

We stayed for one night at the end of September. We arrived Saturday morning, checked in and received our room keys and then left our suitcase with the porter and spent the day in the park. When we came back at 5.30 pm we straight to our Pirate room, it was such a treat for both adults and children. The room is themed from top to bottom, including the little sticker on the toilet roll! The kids had bunk beds with pirate cushions and individual lights, and their room was somewhat separate to ours.
The restaurant is buffet style and caters for most diets and is what you'd expect at an international all-inclusive hotel (except the pushing, shoving and piled-up plates you experience from non-British guests!!!). There was after dinner entertainment for the children and big "ponds" of Lego for them to play with, as well as life-size Lego characters to meet and have photo's with.
The water park is somewhat small for the hotel, and was very busy but very enjoyable!

Room Tip: They're all good!!

We had gone for the SUN deal of 2 free tickets to the park itself, and i chose out of season, so received 2 tickets for Thursday 27th after their 2 day maintenance closure. Knowing we lived quite away, we booked the Legoland hotel for the night prior (26th)...I saw the pries on their website and thought it was extortionate, so decided to have a look around. I got a bargain on lastminute.com for 5 of us in a pirate room with breakfast included for £145.....way way cheaper than their advertised rate. It wasnt worth going through them to book tickets either as we had a 2for1 deal aswell as our 2 freebies.
We kept the trip a suprise for the children and to see their faces when we turned up was a real real treat in itself.
The parking just across from the hotel as fantastic, convenient and close..not to mention free!! Upon arrival just after 3pm, we were asked if we wanted a free upgrade to a fully themed room facing the park....of course we would!! Now even more of a bargain.
The hotel seem empty...I only think i saw 15 maximum other families staying there. So no issues with lifts or service!!
I had alread read other reviews regarding the buffet dinner, so decided to look on trip advisor for an alternative in Windsor for our evening meal. We went to Creme, which was just perfect for us 5.
Our room was really good, apart from a bit of dust around the Lego structures. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and enough for everyone. My son went back up several times!! This helped us fill our tummies before the day, so we didnt have to stop and pay a fortune in one of the restaurants inside the park. Instead we took a rucksack with bottles of water, cereal bars, fruit etc, then grabbed a bite on our way home.
The early entry proved invaluable, we literally were the first onto the park that day to ride ATLANTIS and the dino cars. Due to the hotels location being opposite end to main gates, it seemed dead until 11am....so we got on anything no hassle at all. Thank god we didnt purchase Qbot!! All day we didnt queue either, fab day, would never ever go during holidays, would be an absolute nightmare to wait literally hours for rides!!!
We didnt take our 2 year old, she stayed with Grandparents as we thought the journey and trekking round park would be too much for her and tantrums would be awkward (she isnt one for a pram!!)...we will take her next year.
Overall, great place, great Hotel...just may have had a different view if we had paid the advertised price!! (tip.....never book any hotel without checking discount sites first!!)

Room Tip: The rooms with view over park arent really that....the view is blocked by trees..however it was stil...

We booked a premium adventure room for 1 night with the 2 days at the park on the 27th/28th September for our sons 6th birthday. We also took our 8 week old daughter. The hotel experience was fantastic, our son was overwhelmed with the hotel room. Every little detail was covered and themed to perfection, real fantasy for children. The Thursday in the park was pretty quiet (as it was obviously in term time) so there were no queues, however on the Friday it was much busier with some queuing, I can imagine that in peak periods the waiting times for rides would be quite stressful as the rides are pretty quick. The rides are varied with the submarine ride very good. The rides are aimed at the under 11s,There were plenty of places to eat and drink but these were expensive, although kids ate free after 4pm but some of these were closed which I do not agree with just because the park was quiet. The miniland experiences to include the new star wars were again really good,my husband particularly enjoyed these!!
After the park we went back to the hotel and took both children to the water park inside the hotel. It was not very big but again very child orientated and exciting for them. They also supplied towels, which was a great help and the changing facilities were unisex. By the time we had been back to the hotel room and changed for the night it was approx 8.15pm and we were disappointed to find out that the buffett closed at 9pm. It was £19.99 for adults and £6.99 for children which of course was quite expensive but we had no choice really than to eat there in basically 40 minutes, so take note of the time! The quality of the food was good, with a good variety, the meat was good quality. We noticed that there was no entertainment in the main area so it was very quiet, but again peak times it would be crowded as the area to include the skyline bar was small. The following morning the buffett style was again good quality.
Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would go again, but I would say if you can afford it to book for two nights in the hotel, it would be less rushed and of course much more exciting for your children (and husbands!)

Room Tip: book a premium themed room

Stayed in an Adventure Premium with park view cost of £350....while concept etc is good and you also get park entrance which if you use various vouchers etc for us as a faimily of 3 you could probably get for 2 days entry for £150....so the question is are you really getting a £200 a night hotel.......i do have to say I do not think you are.....rooms once you strip the quirky lego bits away are quite basic and the adult area is realitively small for entertainment you have "base" freeview" channels and a premium film channel at additional cost....pool / splash pool was small so had a banded entry which resulted in a 30min time slot....restaurant is buffet style at £20 for adults and £7 for kids....quality of food for dinner & breakfast was poor and choice was also poor you can imagine with so many people what state the buffet gets into advice steer well clear of restaurant and look elsewhere especially at prices....all in all I would not return as for price and quality once you strip back the "branding" for what you actually get is a very very expensive average hotel

The hotel itself is brilliant with fantastic friendly staff and the hotel is done out to an extreemly high standard .The restaurant was well run & food fresh and hot but this was let down by the cleanliness of the chairs as nearly all were very badly stained .This has been a major problem overlooked by the creators as its obvious a high volume of kids and an upholstered chair is gonna get stained very quickly whereas a washable surface would of been better .This has to be our only quibble regarding the food area .
The bedroom however is another story .The theme of the rooms is done to a high and excellent standard and definatly with kids in mind right down to the little spy hole in the bedroom door and our little ones were excited to say the least with all the hotel room entailed. The themed rooms are really a kids dream come true .The adults double bed was as hard as a rock to sleep on but to be fair as the hotel is fairly newly opened then they have probably not had as much use as some in other hotels and therefor have had little wear & tear yet which probably contributes to their hardness , Our only real problem yet again was the cleanliness .The bedside cabinet was badly covered in dust , the top of the headboard was covered in it & even around the chair edge there was a thick coating of the stuff .As an asthmatic this is a real problem especially around a sleeping area and one that they need to get on top of as all else seemed to be spick and span ,so I dont get why the dusting is such an issue there .It wasnt even just a light coating of maybe a couple of days ! You could even see the bits they had wiped as it all stood out amongst the dusty bits they left behind .
Overall we would visit again as this was a great experience for all the family but it is a shame the cleaners let it down on this one aspect .
