“Lots of History”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

This chapel is located within the bounds of Windsor Castle (see separate review) and is still used daily for church services and weddings. It has a very beautiful interior and exterior and lots of history as explained over your audioguide. It houses the burial sites of Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth's parents and several other kings and queens. It is also the chapel use by the Most Noble Order of the Garter, Britain's highest honor of chivalry and the coats of armor/flag for each member are on display. Definitely worth the visit when touring Windsor Castle.

“Beautiful chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

St. George's Chapel, constructed in 1475 and took about 50 years to finish, is located within the grounds of Windsor Castle and is still used for services. There is not a separate fee for the chapel as it is included with your admission fee to Windsor. It is located down the hill from the castle and is a must see while at Windsor.

No photos or videos are allowed inside the chapel. They have a brochure you can buy for I believe either 30 or 50 pence which shows 28 points of special interest inside the Chapel. There are tombs of royals such as those of the grandparents/parents of the current Queen Elizabeth within the chapel. There is a also a free audio guide you can use which provides a lot of information. The chapel does have staff on hand standing throughout the chapel to answer any questions you may have as well.

The chapel is beautiful and the stained glass windows alone, make it worth a stop while on the grounds of Windsor.

Tip: The changing of the guard takes place just below the chapel in front of the 'barracks' of the guard. You'll want to avoid the chapel just before or after the changing of the guard due to mass crowds at this time. You can check the schedule online http://www.windsor.gov.uk/things-to-do/changing-the-guard-p264351 for a current schedule of when you'll be visiting but typically they do it daily (with some exceptions) at 11am.

Reviewed June 5, 2014

St. George 's chapel is a must see if you find yourself at Windsor Castle. It chapel is beautiful with exquisite stained glass windows. The wood carvings are awesome & the people buried in the chapel are the who's who of British history. The audio guide is very helpful in navigating the chapel.
