Owner description: Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and offers an extraordinarily rich and varied day out. Throughout its history, the Castle has been redecorated, enlarged and rebuilt. Today The Queen spends most of her private weekends at the Castle, which is also used regularly for ceremonial and State occasions. Your ticket to Windsor Castle includes entry to our exhibition Waterloo at Windsor.

Seemed expensive to go in but you got a brilliant audio tour and saw an amazing number of truly gorgeous rooms, you learn a lot about the castle but you also don't get over whelmed with historical facts. We also tagged on the kitchen tour which was well worth it.

Having visited a number of castles and country homes I was expecting a bit more of the same but Windsor is so much better. Impressive buildings, well laid out route, interesting audio, enjoyable guided tour and very nice staff willing to help with all questions and enquires. The highlight for us was St Georges Chapel and the redecorated areas following the fire in the 1990's. Would certainly recommend a visit.

Windsor itself is an interesting place to visit with shops, restaurants and riverside walks......but parking can be expensive so come prepared with lots of £1 coins!

This working castle is well worth a visit. It cost £17.75 each but that included an audio tour. It was raining very heavily when we visited so we couldn't enjoy the outdoors, but the State Apartments were stunning. It's amazing to know some of the rooms were completely damaged in the fire, because they've been beautifully restored.

If you follow the audio tour it takes around 1.5 hours. It was very quiet when we were there and in some cases were the only ones in the room, but I can imagine it gets unbearably crowded in the summer.

As we visited on a Sunday, the chapel was only open for worship, but I've heard it's a great building to look around, so visit another day if you want to see this.

I would definitely recommend visiting this castle if you're ever in the area.

We went to Windsor castle on Friday February 8, 2012 and it was a great day out. The sun was shining so that made a big difference. The cost of admission was 17.75 and well worth it. Not only that but you are able to make your ticket into a one year pass so that you could go back more then once. They do ask you to print and sign your name on the back of the ticket and then they stamp it with the date. Then when you do go back you will have to show id along with your ticket to gain free admission. If you are traveling with small children please know that you cannot take your pram inside the state apartments. You will have to check it in and pick it up on the way out. I took my 9 month old daughter and was offered a hipster when I checked in the pram. It was perfect as you strap it around your waist and it has a small seat the child can sit on. Was excellent as it takes all the weight of the child and it makes it easier to carry them around throughout the tour. We purchased the audio which I would recommend as it was very informative. Not only that but there are staff just about everywhere that would be more then happy to answer any questions that you might have. We parked in the Alexandra Gardens car park which was a 5/10 minute walk to the castle which cost us 1 GBP per hour.

The castle was a wonderful experience. We could have spent an entire day there. We only had a few hours because we stopped at Oxford first. I would rather spend more time at Windsor Castle. The doll house was incredible.
