The room was very spacious and the consumables were very good quality compared to other hotels such as toiletries and tea/coffee selection. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great with only a minute's walk to Windsor Castle and the High Street. Very central location indeed. The beds were a bit too soft for our liking but otherwise a very comfortable stay. The free room wifi was useful.

Wasn't expecting much from a Mecure, but was really pleasently surprised. Hotel looks v small from the front entrance but thasts deceptive as it goes back a long way providing really comfy welcoming reception area. Rooms are on the small size but clean and comfortable.

Breakfast excellent, fantastic location for visiting the castle and shopping. Ample free secure car parking. Great staff.

We lived in Windsor for about 15 years so know it quite well. Whenever we go back we stay at the Castle Hotel. Its a reliable hotel. Service is very good. As previous reviewers have noted its in a very central location and has resident parking, a real plus.
We usual have a snack at the bar rather than a formal meal and this is always nicely served.
I booked our last visit on line and had to get a twin rather than double room. On arrival a double room had become available and they changed our booking with ease. We booked in about 2 hours early and as the room was available this was no problem.
We always stay in the side annex rather than in the main hotel. The rooms are clean and very functional. Free WIFI in the room. If you want top luxury then the rooms need a bit of a refurb.
All in all for a night or two you wont go far wrong.

Room Tip: The double we moved to was much better than the twin

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for a Friday night (26th/27th April). Can't fault the hotel at all really. Perfect location for seeing Windsor. It's quite easy to get your bearings and learn your way around. Very close to the castle and all of the shops. We checked out about 15 minutes early on the Saturday and luckily timed it just right to see the Changing of the Guards walk past the hotel and into the castle. It was brilliant!
Room was a little small but completely fine for one night. The lighting in the room wasn't great as the windows faced a wall making it dark and therefore made it a bit difficult to get ready to go out. We described the bathroom as "being drunk" as the hotel is an old building and therefore not completely level.
However, the big big plus for this hotel is the parking. They have got their system just right. I'd phoned beforehand and asked if we could park in the carpark a little earlier than the checking in time and was told this wasn't a problem. When checking out, we asked if we could leave the car there while we went and had lunch and again, this wasn't a problem. They gave us a key-card that was set for that day, allowing us to exit the carpark at any time that day. The carpark is completely free of charge and the hotel seems to understand that people don't necessarily leave the town once they check-out. Compared to the Macdonald Windsor hotel which is a few doors down and charges £20 a night for parking, the Mercure has a much better system.
Overall, a very good stay.

A hotel perfectly located within walking distance of Windsor Castle and the shops!
Parking is situated behind the hotel and is free if you are staying there. The staff were very friendly when we arrived and we were able to check in straight away. As we were staying there the saturday night (separate booking made by someone else) we asked if we could keep the same room for both nights which we were told would not be a problem. The room/bathroom was clean and had a view overlooking the museum. On the Saturday we received a call asking us if we were happy for the hotel staff to move our bags to our other room - we explained the situation to them from when we checked in. At this point we were on a boat trip so slightly anxious throughout the trip as to what was going on with our room and things baring in mind the do not disturb sign was hanging on the door. We returned to the hotel from our boat trip to find that nothing had been moved - it was a communication problem between housekeeping and the main reception. We had breakfast on the Sunday morning - typical buffet with fruit, cereals, eggs and bacon etc... A pleasant stay and would go back if we were visiting Windsor again due to the location ;)

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were friendly an helpful. Our room (210), was a classic double within the old building. We were a bit disappointed when we arrived, the room has a view of a wall about 2m away and so was a bit dark. The bathroom was also dated and bits were in need of redecoration. The noise of the aeroplanes flying out of Heathrow was also really loud and there was a plane nearly every minute! We expected a bit more from the 4 star rating. However, the planes quietened down at night and we had a good nights sleep. The shower was good, the TV was good and the parking was a bonus. All in all, we had a good stay and felt that the hotel was doing its best given part of it is an old building with a long history.
