We stayed as a family , 2adults,2 children in the Castle Mews at back of hotel. Well sized room with sofa bed and z bed for the kids.Room was clean, only hope was with water pressure! Excellent location for Windsor castle and Legoland-there is a shuttle bus directly across from hotel.Excellent breakfast, large choice of hot and cold buffet.Staff were friendly and efficient .A problem we encountered with our internet booking was dealt with quickly and to our satisfaction.

Easy to find on the main high street, free parking was a huge bonus. Friendly reception staff. Room at back of hotel which was very dark but comfortable. However, the planes to Heathrow came very close and kept us awake most of the night, with a small reprise around 3 am until 6 am!!!
The buffet breakfast was plentiful but the bacon etc was not very hot. When we checked out we were told we could leave our car In The car park for the rest of the day which was great.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a privilege room at the front of the hotel.

I booked a stay at the Mercure in early February for our ninth wedding anniversary, based on the positive reviews by previous customers. We arrived late Saturday morning and driving into the car park we were met by a friendly parking attendant. The weather was bitterly cold and had been snowing all morning and over night. To get a car parking space underneath one of the buildings meant that I did not have to scrape ice off of the car on our departure the following morning. To have free parking for hotel guests, and lots of spaces, is a big bonus for a busy town like Windsor, which means that you don't have to pay extortionate prices for insecure parking, and you don't have to carry your luggage through the town after struggling to find a space.

Inside the hotel, we were greeted by friendly receptionists who booked us in quickly and were happy to help us with advice on activities in town. We were prepared to have to leave our bags in the car because the website stated that rooms would not be available until 14:00 so to be able to use the room straight away and prior to midday was great.

We took our luggage up to our room. I booked a Privilege double for one night. Our room was 302 on the third floor overlooking the High Street at the front of the hotel and with a nice view of Windsor castle. To welcome us to the hotel, the staff had left an anniversary card and some chocolates which was a very nice personal touch. Despite being at the front of the hotel, it was extremely quiet. The room was spacious, separated into a bedroom and lounge area. The furniture was beautiful dark wood and there was a super King size bed fit for a King. There were two televisions; one in the lounge and one in the bedroom. Perhaps some couples do not get on and fight over the remote control? Amenities in the room include wiFi, a fridge, a coffee machine, kettle and tea making facilities, separate air conditioning for the bedroom and lounge area, iron, and trouser press amongst others. The bathroom was bright and clean. The only thing that let the room down was the inadequate shower. The water pressure was very low and my wife stated that it took longer than normal to wash her hair.

We had some lunch in the town and then headed off to Windsor castle to visit the chapel only as it would be closed on Sunday. We visited the rest of the castle on Sunday morning and beat the crowds after advice from the wardens. We were lucky that The London Bach choir were practicing Brahms Deutches Requiem for a performance that night. The acoustics were amazing and made our visit to the chapel even better. Despite being relatively early on Sunday, the queues for the castle were quite long but quick to progress. Inside the castle, visitor numbers were high. If the weather was better I believe that it would have been even busier.

Dinner in the restaurant was lovely. The staff greeted us by saying, "Happy Anniversary." I had butternut squash soup and creme fraiche to start with whilst my wife had asparagus. We both had duck for main. For desert I had lemon curd brûlée and my wife had apple crumble with custard. Both of the desert plates had been decorated with a message written in chocolate saying Happy Anniversary. We had a bottle of New Zealand sauvignon blanc with the meal. We had a drink in the bar afterwards where the bar staff were friendly.

Breakfast the following morning was excellent. Normally I refrain from a cooked breakfast but it looked too good an opportunity to miss and it set us up for a very cold visit to the Castle. There was a wide selection of fresh fruit, bread, cereals etc for those not wanting to have a cooked breakfast.

Overall our stay in the hotel was superb. The only negative thing to write about was the shower. The town itself has plenty or bars, restaurants, pubs and cafes and there are some nice boutique shops around the old Windsor station.

Really happy with our stay here, just for one night. After reading reviews on here we opted for a privilege room which is in the main hotel and had a small selection of complimentary soft drinks in the mini bar. Nice sized room. Views over high street. Bed very hard, nice at first but found I just couldn't find myself comfortable for too long at one time. One tip I would suggest is order breakfast at check in. When booking it was something ridiculous like £32 more on the booking but we paid £10 each after asking at check in. Nice breakfast. Good selection of hot and cold. Free parking, massive bonus in Windsor. Really nice feel to this hotel. Specifically picked this over the macdonald due to a bit more character and charm.

Dear Twinmum84,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent stay with us. I was pleased to read you had an enjoyable stay with us and will share your positive feedback with the team. We do offer breakfast on our rates which is £10 per person more than our room only rate on our website. We do also offer breakfast at check-in for £10 per person for those that book in advance. If guests choose not to take any of the advance options for breakfast the charge for Full English breakfast on the day is £16.50 per person. I hope this clarifies the breakfast pricing for you and hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.

Scottish barman was the Hotel's highlight due to his genuine willingness to make and serve drinks that folks might enjoy. Verging on patronising but I'll let him off this time. Otherwise the hotel is exactly what you might expect in Windsor.

Underwhelmed slightly but the redeeming features of the location and parking save the day!

Room Tip: Ask for a modern room at the back if you want bland, otherwise be prepared for squeaky floors and...

We stayed here for my husbands birthday in March, I'm so glad we chose to stay here great location, with a private car park which is free for guests, beautiful room and very nice professional staff. This is a chain Hotel with a privately owned feel the decor and feel of the hotel are wonderful. The food was amazing. if your looking for a nice Hotel opposite Windsor castle this is the place for you. We booked direct with the hotel rather than on a website, feel we got a better deal. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so wonderful. We hope to return again and will recommend to friends & family.

Room Tip: We got an upgraded room was worth the money

Stayed here this weekend for a Murder Mystery night. Lovely Hotel with free parking, which was fantastic as we were directly across from Windsor Castle. Really nice room. Very clean. Nice bathroom. Dinner in the evening was delicious and the breakfast was great. Very good selection of hot and cold food and juices to choose from. I would definitely stay here again.
