We stayed at the Oakley court as part of a large family group. As a result we were given a great B&B price. The rooms were comfortable and clean but in need of a little updating. My mother who is in her late eighties was also staying. Regrettably the hotels facilities for infirm and or less able bodied people were limited. My mum wanted to be near to the rest of the family, and while the hotel has disabled access rooms these weren't near to those allocated to the family. All rooms had a bath with a shower but none had a walk in shower which was what we really needed for mum.
The hotel has no lifts and the walk to my mothers room was either via two staircases or around the outside of the hotel. Thankfully it wasn't raining so we took the outside route there were far too many stairs for my mum to manage.
We also booked a twin room for our children, what they were given was a room with two single bends with one headboard separated by about 10 inches, hardly a twin. The beds were os close to each other it may as well have been a double.
After attending the wedding we had drinks and bar food in the evening and ran up a substantial bar bill between us. What was shocking, was not so much the prices as you expect them to be higher than average, was the fact that a charge of £1.50 was made to walk a bar snack 10 yards from the bar to where we were sitting, frankly this is outrageous given the money we were spending.
Breakfast was pretty good, though somewhat chaotic, As was checkout.
The hotel is in a beautiful location and could be excellent but fell well short on our visit.
