Filthy carpets, terrible decor, wires hanging everywhere from Tv, chairs at desk poor, could hear every noise in corridor. I do like to support independant business but really when they are like this it's so sad. The staff were great though and tried to resolve problems but I ended up checking out after the first night as other rooms I looked at we're just as bad.

We were looking for a hotel in the area as we had a family party. I booked this hotel at £85 for 1 night stay. I really thought the standard of hotel for the price was terrible. Ok not the most expensive rate but it really was awful. The room had not been touched since the 80's. The TV did not work and the light was out in the room. The bathroom wasn't very nice at all and I didn't shower as I didn't want to get in it.
The main bar area is really nice and you can tell they have spent some money making this look nice but the rooms really do need some care and attention.

Room Tip: I am sure the rooms on the front looking over the water would make up for the quality of the rooms.

Long wait to check in. I went to the wrong room by mistake and the key to my room opened the door in error. My bathroom was filthy - mould, hair and a dirty floor; bedroom carpet in need of a deep clean - although bed itself was clean. Bathroom light didn't work; view out of the window was obscured by large kitchen vent/chimney. Couldn't leave windows open as room located next to a fire exit. Door had no chain and locking mechanism (to deadlock door from inside) was broken. Slept with a chair propped against the door. Hotel entrance smelt dank, as did restaurant. Food mediocre. Wouldn't stay again.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

I was reluctant to give this hotel the glowing review it deserves as I selfishly want to be able to stay there again whenever I have to travel to the area, and I don't want it to be too full !! However, having just spent 3 nights there on my own on business, I was rarely reluctant to leave.
The staff are professional and efficient but at the same time are very warm and welcoming - a rare thing to understand and give hospitality in the UK!!
The setting is great and is right by the marina on the river Thames... shame it was raining most of the time but I'm sure they would have made it sunny if they could.
The Italian restaurant on site has a chef from Rome and serves authentic Italian dishes superbly and delicately flavoured and well presented - my friends and I agreed it was the best Italian food we had had in the UK... reasonably priced and with a very extensive menu, but all freshly made to order.
Breakfast was of a good quality and decent ingredients. The rooms were very clean and well maintained... although of an older style to fit in with the age of the building.
Congratulations and thanks to the management and staff.

We will definitely be back! Spent a weekend at The Thames Hotel after deciding the hotel we had been booked into was pretty dire. The staff could not have done enough to ensure our stay was up to scratch.

Room Tip: All the staff could not have done enough and were all really friendly. The outside of the hotel does...

Lovely location on the river, very good and free wifi with no messing around to log in, free parking and friendly staff. The rooms were of a good standard although I think being an older building the soundproofing maybe not as good as a modern hotel.

Efficient check in. The place in general is a little old fashioned and could use a lick of paint, But it is £70 b&b, compare that to most city stays parking and wifi would be another £25.

The bar had a few regulars in and was pleasant enough. One slight oddity was the burger served on a seeded wholegrain bread cake, strange for a standard.

Would definitely stay again.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights while visiting friends and family in the area.
Reception welcome was friendly and relaxed as was the remainder of our stay.
We had dinner in the Italian restaurant the first night and what a treat, big hearty proper Italian food at a very reasonable price.
Location is great, is about 20 min walk into Maidenhead and looks over the River Thames, if you stay ask if they can put you in a room over looking the river (picture perfect)

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river if they have one
