A place for a pincic and a chance to feed the ducks and geese, though sometimes a few too many geese.

Called in with a friend for a beer and natter. Went to the upstairs bar area which was not very busy with plenty of seating available. They were offering a happy hour discount of 25% so we ordered two pints which cost around £7. My friend who was paying asked if that was the discounted price and was informed that it was. Make mental note not to visit outside of happy hour. We grabbed a table and looked forward to a quiet natter for an hour or so but this was not to be ! A group of about 8 males seated nearby were causing a load of noise and more or less shouting at each other; conversation was impossible so we finished our drinks and left. Can only say that its not the place to go if you are looking for a pleasent time in the company of other mature adults.

Really lovely island, not very big but large enough for a nice walk and plenty of places for a picnic, different areas on the island so plenty of places to be away from others, cafe on the island as well as ice cream stand just before you go onto the island. 2 car parks nearby. Recommend.

We had never been to the area before and were delighted to find this attraction which is a very busy working lock on the Thames, behind which is an Island with a park with pleasant walks and views of a fast flowing weir. The cafe in the park was very clean and popular. Well worth a visit

This is a working lock so the entertainment is right there. It is a pretty spot but ruined by the traffic and haphazard parking. We were dropped off by taxi and walked along the river bank to the Riviera Hotel - see separate review.
