“leggoland trip”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

We arrived at around 14:30 on the Saturday to find one bed missing from our room. On inspection it was obvious that the room had NOT been cleaned. The carpet was not at all clean; it looked as though it had not been vacuumed for weeks. The ledges and dressing table etc, where so dusty you could easily write your name in them.
The bathroom had leftover shower gel and shampoo from a previous occupant and the chest of draws had been left with rubbish tucked in the back.
The makeup bed which was originally missing had bent stays and kept collapsing until I straightened the stay out!! If someone had tried to sleep on it, it would have most likely collapsed with them in it.
The whole experience was one of feeling that you’d rather not touch anything as it was not very clean.
The decoration was far past its sell by date and the walls had holes showing from previous fixtures and fittings and the paint work could have done with a good clean or a new coat of paint. The ceiling had holes round the lights and the floor had lumps pocking up in the carpet, which if you hand bare feed would at best have been uncomfortable.
The cupboard to the side of the chimney breast was full of spider’s webs and any number of dead insects.
The wardrobe was not suitable for use. It looked like something from MFI that had been overused for the last 20 years.
The website for this guest house looks fantastic, however the actual experience falls way, way short of what we expected or indeed were lead to expect.
The full English breakfast was tiny compared to other places we have stayed in and it left you feeling disappointed and hungry!!
The staff are pleasant enough but seemed a little lost in what they should be doing.
Overall the accommodation was of a poor standard

Room Tip: my advice regarding rooms would be do not stay in room 4

This is not an upscale B&B but rather very good, basic accommodation----clean, large room #4, remodeled en-suite, and a very large fan for use during the July heat wave. The owners graciously checked us in early so that we could freshen-up and walk to the the station for a train to London for a day of shopping. Left our car in their off-street car park.
The owners appear to be refurbishing and the breakfast room is exceptionally well done. And the full breakfast was excellent as was the hospitality.
I would improve the toiletries from the basic bulk Tesco products.

Just come back from a 2 night stay. Plenty of off road parking. Very warmly welcomed when we arrived, shown to our room and the young man even carried my case up stairs to our room. Massive room and large ensuite bathroom, had everything we needed, even a fridge. Was very clean and bedding, towels v clean and fresh smelling. Breakfast was great, everything you needed and the owners very friendly and attentive.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend.

This isn't an ultra modern B&B but the family room we stayed in was spacious with high ceilings.

We stayed on a very hot, humid night but there was even a fan in the room which kept us all cool.

The large walk in shower was really nice, good water pressure, and clean.

Hospitality at breakfast was good, as was the cooked breakfast.

Reading some of the reviews I wonder what people expect. This is a GUEST HOUSE! And for that it is very good. The rooms are of a good size, with en suite facilities, and they are clean and comfortable. I've stopped in hotels with several stars on the continent that are not as good. The breakfasts are excellent, and the people who run it are very friendly and really helpful. It is situated in a quiet area but with easy access, and plenty of off road parking. Being honest, what more can you desire for an overnight stay - if you want more, then pay what you will at a 4* or 5*, don't knock the very good service provided here.

I enjoyed my stay. The hosts were wonderfully accommodating, and the breakfast was terrific. The rooms were a bit dated, but I didn't feel like that was an issue at all. I was biking from Heathrow, and they allowed me to lock my bike in a shed. I would stay there again.

We have just come back from a stay in this B&B The rooms are very tired and dated none of the furniture matches and the carpet was ripped in our room.I found it personally a depressing place to stay but that is just my opinion. It is situated well for the town and the trains.I dont know the prices in the area but we felt it was expensive for what it was, given we saw a hotel in Eton for £60 per night I would not stay at this place again or recommend to friend
