Have lived in Ascot for ten years and never tried Mikado but so glad we finally got round to it. Lovely (Scots??) man on door who greeted us and not rushed straight through to table which was nice. Food was very good.......... seaweed, satay, and some lovely mystery parcel things that we took a punt on. Followed by duck... delicious - good and crispy and plenty of sauce and lovely fresh cucumber and spring onion strips. Mee Goreng, Thair red beef curry and a couple of other main courses which were also all very good. The service was polite and efficient and we sent back empty plates. Can never bring myself to be inspired by deserts in oriental or indian restaurants and the waiter very politely asked us if we would like to have a coffee or drink at the bar on the house. He didn't insist on rushing us but when I asked if they needed our table he said yes please if we didn't mnd. What a lovely way to do this in a nice way. Rather than presenting us with our bill and rushing us out of the door he gave us all a complimentary drink at the bar.
Our evening was somewhat topped off by (what looked like!!!) half the cast of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding arriving just as we were heading back to the bar. Cost was reasonable for what we had at £65 per couple including drinks (altho two were driving so on soft drinks). A nice evening and we will go back.
