“wine down”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

my husband and i stayed at this hotel for the 2nd time for 2 nights.. we chose it for its value as it was offering dinner bed and breakfast with a free bottle of wine for £89 per night. the room was larger than the one we had last time, it was clean and comfortable, all of the staff were friendly and smiled or spoke to us. wi fi was a bit weak at times. the breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. the dinner had several choices for main and desserts and either soup or salad for starters, overall the food was nice but not outstanding. on the first night my husband noticed that when the wine was brought to our table it had been opened and possibly half a glass taken out of it, he did comment to the waitress that it wasn't a full bottle unsure if she chose to ignore him or if she did not understand as she was foreign, shame i didn't realise or i would have insisted on having an unopened bottle, unfortunately my husband doesn't like to complain or make a fuss..

Booked this hotel as a last minute get away, stayed over on a saturday nite in a double room with my boyfriend, the room wasn't very big but clean and perfect just for us, we had a meal in the restaurant which was nice and not too badly priced, breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. The grounds of this hotel are stunning, we didn't explore all of it but would deff love to go back in the summer when the weather is nicer and stay again.
The check in was smooth and the girl on the desk very nice, staff in the restaurant were very good we went downstairs to the bar for a drink after our dinner and the barman was such a lovely friendly guy,
Would deff recommend this hotel and for the price we paid we couldn't ask for better.

Room Tip: We had a classic double and it isn't very big so if you like a lot of space choose a different r...

Our post Christmas break at different De Vere this time. We arrived a little early not expecting our room to be ready, just to make the most of the day, we were however asked whether we wanted ground floor or first, which was nice. We were allocated a nice room and given the key even though it wasn't ready. That was fine we had a coffee and planned a bar lunch........ah ! The bar doesn't open for lunch !
On returning from a local pub the room was still not ready but we were happy to wait and the situation was happily resolved :-)
A lovely big warm room considering we got a great deal, no complaints.
All the staff were excellent and it was so quiet sometimes it seemed we were the only people about. Beautiful grounds, the only downside is that the bar & restaurant are a long way from reception and compared with other De Veres there was no central 'heart' where you could relax out of your room.
Yes it was a college so the outside looks exactly like that but the rooms are De Vere and the staff could not be faulted.
A great place for Windsor or Ascot, and we really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: You might not want to walk a long way to breakfast if the weather isn't good. Ask for a closer r...

In between two company away days at the glorious Royal Berkshire Hotel a colleague of mine (who chose not to ferry between London and Ascot) chose to stay at the less glamorous but very comfortable Sunningdale Park a short walk away. Check-in was smooth, simple and the price of the room cheap and cheerful.

Both rooms were basic, a little lifeless and cold (in décor not temperature) but comfortable and reasonably quiet. The bonus of Sunningdale Park are the excellent grounds and walking trails to explore and, if you’re an early riser we managed to capture a beautiful sunset. Highly recommend when booking to take advantage of the discounted breakfast – the choice of hot and continental was fantastic and certainly filled us up for the busy morning ahead before lunch.

Spending 7 days over Christmas with a Mother seriously ill in a local hospital was made tolerable by the kindness and help all the staff gave to us during our stay.
In particular Nasco Petrov, the Head Receptionist, Hana and Rebecca were of great assistance during this sad time.
Hotel visits are not always for pleasure or business but may be evaluated for the service given. The Sunningdale team stood out 'big time' on this occasion. We were also very satisfied with the accommodation and restaurant facilities. We recommended this De Vere venue for overall value and service

When I arrive at the hotel I drove to the entrance and parked taking all my bags into reception to find my room was a short drive away - back out to the road and into another entrance. The room was rather dated and was cold when I arrived. Fortunately the bed was comfortable and the room soon warmed up. I didn't opt for breakfast but I'm guessing this was good walk from my room.
I had work to do the next day so stayed in the room until 11:00am and the only complaint was that the heating went off and it started to get cold again.
At the end of the day it cost me £45 for the night - can't really complain!
