From the moment we turned into the sweeping driveway, we knew we'd made the right decision booking Coworth for a romantic getaway. Modern, relaxing spa. Elegantly decorated and appointed rooms. Fab copper roll-top baths and shower heads the size of dustbin lids! The most important thing was the levels of service. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff at Coworth were, without exception, some of the friendliest and helpful we have ever encountered. The test is; would we return? Yes, as a couple, and with our two children. There are several roomier cottages ideal for families. Would we recommend this hotel? In a heartbeat.

I was there for a meeting. The property is very well managed, very attentive service. I stayed in the Stables (very tastefully decorated). But the room door does not close well and when someone entered the main door, my room door was shaking as if someone would bang on it) – this is definitely a problem that has to be solved, especially for a hotel at that rate.

Restaurants, spa and general style are impeccable.

We stayed one night before flight out from Heathrow. As we weren't flying until late afternoon it didn't seem worthwhile staying at an airport hotel so we booked here. Lovely check in - very personable and friendly. Our room was in the Stables. Room was fine - very comfortable bed, nespresso coffee machine, B&O tv, fabulous bathroom with freestanding copper panelled bath, double sink, huge walk in shower. Best bathrobes I have had anywhere - heaven help you if you are very small and petite as they will drown you! We dined in the Stables restaurant. The hotel was fully booked when we were there. Hadn't realised when I booked that I should have made dinner reservation at same time - I would recommend you do as we didn't get option of dining in JC restaurant and we were only offered a very early or very late sitting in the Stables. Menu choice in Stables is fairly limited - but flavours were excellent and we really enjoyed what we had. Service again is extremely friendly and efficient.

this place is very child friendly but fortunately (for us) all children there whilst we were dining were incredibly well behaved and not allowed by parents to run around and genuinely make a racket and disturb other guests, which can so often happen

Following morning we had breakfast in Mansion House overlooking grounds which was lovely. It is waitress service rather than buffet and everything we had was perfectly cooked and presented.

Managed to fit in a visit to the pool which was also very enjoyable.

genuinely loved our visit and hope to go back. Only negatives I can muster are that down stair stable rooms do lack privacy and you need to keep blinds down; area around pool did look as if it hadn't been swept for a while (lots of water bottle tops lying around); apart from that - great place and well worth a visit.

We stayed for one night at Coworth Park and had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The rooms were a good size - the bathroom was huge!! In the rooms we liked the most - the very large comfy beds, the copper roll top baths, his and her sinks. We had lunch in the Drawing Room and dinner in the Barn - both had lovely food, good size portions and excellent service. They were very busy at both meals but we didn't feel rushed at all and ate 2 very leisurely meals. We used the spa also - lovely facilities and apart from the usual spa facilities we really liked the extra attention to detail like the large lockers with a safe, big dressing gowns, lots of extra towels, bottles of water.
A few reasons why I've not given it 5 out of 5:
- check-in was at 3pm but our room wasn't ready until closer to 4pm. A little annoying since we arrived for lunch at 1pm so they knew we'd be waiting for our room but they just kept saying it would be ready shortly. When obviously it wasn't.
- I had a spa treatment and for a 65min treatment I probably got about 45 mins with the rest of the time spent 5 mins on form filling and 15mins in the 'relaxation room'. Didn't mind the form filling but 15mins in a relaxation room - not good value at all. I'd probably skip any treatments next time I went.
- no english breakfast tea in the room and the muesli I ordered with breakfast never arrived.
- when we got to our room the porter very kindly offered to get us an ice-bucket for our bottle of champagne a lovely touch noticing we needed one but unfortunately it never appeared.
- there is supposed to be a turn down service while you are at dinner. We had a dinner reservation booked in advance and were at dinner for 2.5hours but they didn't manage to do the turn down in that time.
For the price you pay I would expect all these details to be taken care of.
That being said I would recommend to others and by and large the service was excellent. I would return again for a relaxing break.

Just spend last weekend at Coworth: impeccable, friendly service and very nice rooms and location. Outside of the Michelin-kitchen, the food was a bit simple and bland, but the staff was very friendly, the SPA and equestrian center were above par and we had a totally relaxed weekend, just 40 minutes outside central London. Will come again.

We checked in for a two night, new year treat and were immediately impressed with the stylish decor; light luxurious fabrics, clever use of mirrors with beautiful statement pieces, the attention to detail was obvious even down to the fabulous Christmas trees, which were of course, decorated superbly.
Now for more important matters: Mr Campbell is a most generous host and no expense was spared! Sumptuous afternoon teas, delicious Champagnes left in your bedroom and served throughout the evening, a seven ( or was it eight? ) course gala dinner, which genuinely was SUBLIME, I just couldn't fault it. Intense, creative flavours with exquisite presentation, each course more delicious than the last, by the time the home made chocolate platter arrived I needed to be air lifted to bed! Still there is always the spa and the new year promise of a 100 lengths the next day. The spa is an amazing building, offering a real contrast to the Georgian mansion. It is a contemporary space, very zen like, all White treatment rooms with relaxation areas offering panoramic vistas, of a simply stunning landscape. The spatisserie offers an excellent healthy alternative menu.
However, there is no such thing as a "perfect" hotel and for me personally I felt somewhat deflated after my AMAZING massage only to find I simply couldn't swim as the pool was entirely occupied by children, boisterous, normal, happy children, but they cleared the couples contingency out almost immediately, they made full use of the steam and sauna areas, there was no escaping them and after an hour we gave up and left. The gym is very small and no studio for classes or yoga, which is sad as the spa is the perfect place for indoor and outdoor yoga and detox retreats generally, but I guess that is not the direction they wish to go, but please, do at least consider, adult only times, or better still, build a childrens pool.

My husband and I have just returned home from Coworth Park having enjoyed a very special 2 night Christmas experience. We were drawn to Coworth Park by John Campbell's reputation and we were delighted with everything about our stay. The food was just stunning, the hospitality was relaxed yet attentative, our room and the lounges were very comfortable and the grounds a delight to explore. The Christmas celebration package rivals any other we have experienced, including Le Manoir, and when it was time to go we wished we had booked for 3 nights so that we could sample the delights of The Barn too! Thank you to all the staff for making very happy memories for us as we celebrated both Christmas and our wedding anniversary. As this is not far from home for us, Coworth Park could well become 'our new place'.
