I really liked this hotel. It's a lovely building in a great location near bars and shops, and there is long stay parking a short walk away. After reading other reviews I requested a quiet room at the back, away from the main road; this paid off and there was no late night noise at all. The room was a good size, with a lovely comfy bed and powerful shower. I booked the room for a great price with Laterooms, and was very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. I had a roast dinner in the restaurant which again was great value at under £7. All in all, a great hotel in a very lovely city.

Spent a full day traversing the countryside, out to Amesbury and on to Stonehenge and then wandering around Salisbury. Found the King's Head Inn. A great spot for watching the shoppers and having a few good pints to quench our thirst before heading over to the cathedral for Evensong. The pub was a great spot to sit and rest our feet and visit with the staff and the locals. Picked up good pointers for sightseeing, as well!

booked for 3 nights as we were on a racing weekend, arrived outside and entered through the entrance to the inn where the reception was on the 1st floor so had to go in a tiny lift that holds 4 max!!
the only other way up was a fire exit.
reception staff very helpful, but was quite a trek to our rooms,
the room was very nice but could have been cleaner!!
the air conditioner would not work so propped the window open but as it was a weekend it was very very noisy outside.
It would be advisable to ask for a back room for quietness
overall we had a great weekend and would definitely go back
GREAT FOR YOUNG COUPLES OR STAG OR HEN PARTYS!!!

Room Tip: ask for a back room!!

We stayed end of october lovely weather building inviting access good. After 5star Wetherspoon Weston Super Mare bit of a disappointment double bed uncomfortable bathroom cold no hot rail ,and mouldy. Music thumped into the early hours.(we are no fuddy's at that)just not told that room would be so bad,.Carpet didn't feel as if it had been cleaned like Weston, which is first class cleaning observed (despite being newer.) Staff pleasant enough, food excellent& value, excellent spot, with so many attractions ,shops & things to see.Just wish it was a bit more relaxing better bed &fresher. We are great fans of Wetherspoon where we have stayed & visited many over the years.

Room Tip: Other couple in our group double room had nice bed twin put together & memory foam nice sunny po...

I've stayed here a couple of times now and I have to say it's good value for money. Remember, this is a Wetherspoons Hotel and not the Savoy so don't expect luxury. The rooms are a very good size (bigger than most hotel chains) with big bathrooms and are very clean. Tea/coffee in the room, clean towels, comfy beds, what else do you need for an overnight stop?
As this is a city centre location car parking is non-existent and you have to use the pay and display which is a 5 minute walk.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper try to get a room at the back. Either that or spend more money in the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The site of this Wetherspoon pub has been occupied by an inn since the 15th century. By c1520, it was known as the King's Head, and it retained that name until it was rebuilt in the 1880s. The County Hotel was, itself, a change of name some time during the 1880s or 1890s. Before then, it was the Kings Head and Brewery. We have 33 individual bedrooms. All of our rooms are en suite and include tea- and coffee-making facilities, air conditioning, a hair dryer, TV and free Wi-Fi, also available in the pub. Please be aware that we are a Lloyds No 1 bar so we will be playing music in the pub from Thursday to Saturday nights. Limited quiet rooms are available so please telephone in advance to request one. We have no onsite parking but there is a city centre car park we recommend that is only a 3-5 minute walk away. You are able to stop on the pub entrance to unload your luggage before you go and park. ... more   less
