We recently stayed at the Kings Head Inn and were very pleased with the result.
The family room was very clean and spacious and well equiped, the hotel is in the centre of Salisbury which is a busy town centre therefore some street noise is evedent.
The bar underneath the hotel provides food from 7am to 10pm also from 10pm till 1am the resident DJ plies his trade which did not bother us as we were on the top floor, I cannot comment for the lower floor. My advise is to book the family room or a room on the top floor.
There is no car park for this hotel but you can park on the private road by the hotel to unload, then move your car to a car park which is a short walk along the river side , the car parking charges start from 8am £2.20 for 2 hours or £4.20 for 3 hours.
Overall this hotel was excellent value for money.

The King's Head is in an excellent location. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast (not included) is served in the pub downstairs - nothing exciting but I've paid much more for much worse.

The rooms would benefit from some form of secondary glazing to cut down on the the traffic noise from the street but at this price I really could not complain. The King's Head isn't the Ritz but it does offer excellent budget accomodation in the heart of Salisbury

Convenient location to visit Salisbury.

This Wetherlodge is situated in a fine old building next to a river. The accommodation is above a Barclays bank, with the main pub – King’s Head, on the end by the river. There is no on-site parking, so most use a large car park to the rear of Sainsbury’s opposite to the King’s Head. It is unsecured and a bit of a trek with luggage.

The accommodation is accessed though a door on the front (not the pub). A lift takes you to the reception on the first school. Due to the age of the building the hotel is rather quirky – with plenty of creaking floorboards and different levels.

We were rather disappointed with the accommodation. Having been big fans of the Wetherspoons brand I think we expected something a little more stylish. The colour schemes in the rooms were dull, with dark carpets and cheap furniture making the rooms appear shabby.

A rather basic large bathroom lacked places to hang towels etc. The floor covering made it look like a public toilet!

We didn’t really get good nights sleep due to traffic noise on the street below and I certainly would not want to stay over a weekend due to the noise from the pub.

Normal Wetherspoons food is available in the main pub, including the good value breakfast.

On the plus side it’s location is ideal for exploring Salisbury, a really nice city to visit & the hotel staff were very polite and friendly.

This hotel is located very centrally and convenient for walking round Salisbury. It has various drawbacks including no front reception on the street - you have to first find the buzzer and then be buzzed in, use a lift and arrive at reception; inside it is a warren of firedoors and stairs (no lift apart from that to reception); because it is a listed building, windows are small and my air-con didn't work so a rather hot and sweaty night.
Good points are that my room was comfortable (billed as a double but really only suitable for single occupancy); it was clean; hotel staff were helpful and friendly although there is no porter available so luggage can be a real problem; breakfast good and very reasonably priced.

This is a wetherlodge, over the pub and is very convenient for the centre of Salisbury. I have stayed on several occasions and as long as you ask for a quiet room all is usually ok. If you don't you run the risk of loud traffic noise and on Thurs, Fri and Sat there is music in the bar so if you don't want a late night you need to specify a quiet room. The downside is the only way to get in on arrival is by buzzing and waiting to be let in. There is no intercom so you need to keep your hand on the door so you know when it has been released. On my last visit it took 15 minutes to be let in and even my booking company who tried to telephone couldn't get through. I had a very half hearted excuse rather than apology that the receptionist had left the desk unmanned who then ignored the fact I was angry and gave me the usual spiel about having a nice stay.

I was going to give the hotel a wide berth in future but as my previous stays on the whole have been ok am giving it another chance. Haven't scored it too low because of previous stays!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary. It is centrally located and the staff are polite and pleasant. These are the only good points.
The hotel is in dire need of refurbishment. The bedroom was large, scruffy and not particularly clean with soap residue etc on the shower door and the finger plates on all the doors were covered in fingerprints. The bed was exceptionally small for a double. As we are not large people this did not cause us a problem but could if you are even slightly overweight! There was a raised doorstop in the middle of the bedroom floor that was virtually the same colour as the carpet and the number of times we stumbled over this was amazing. They should be painted white or a similar light colour.
When we booked the hotel, the website stated that there was limited on-site parking available. This was not true and has since been amended but we were never advised of this. We had to troop a fair distance to a public car park which cost over £7 per day. This, added to the cost of the breakfast made the hotel poor value for money. The view from our room was non-existent and overlooked a host of equipment, including extractor fans etc and nothing else.
We have stayed at Wetherlodges in Inverness, Shrewsbury and Chesterfield on a number of occasions and have always given them glowing references but this is definitely the worst Wetherlodge we have ever stayed in.

I turned up very late with my bicycle - 11.45 on a Sunday evening, and everyone was very helpful from the off. They put the bike somewhere safe for me and booked me in with no fuss. The room was very clean and comfortable and the whole place is very central - on the walk from the railway station to the cathedral - which is only a 5 minute walk away. There is a good atmosphere with the staff and I was made to feel at home in no time at all. I would definitely stop here again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The site of this Wetherspoon pub has been occupied by an inn since the 15th century. By c1520, it was known as the King's Head, and it retained that name until it was rebuilt in the 1880s. The County Hotel was, itself, a change of name some time during the 1880s or 1890s. Before then, it was the Kings Head and Brewery. We have 33 individual bedrooms. All of our rooms are en suite and include tea- and coffee-making facilities, air conditioning, a hair dryer, TV and free Wi-Fi, also available in the pub. Please be aware that we are a Lloyds No 1 bar so we will be playing music in the pub from Thursday to Saturday nights. Limited quiet rooms are available so please telephone in advance to request one. We have no onsite parking but there is a city centre car park we recommend that is only a 3-5 minute walk away. You are able to stop on the pub entrance to unload your luggage before you go and park. ... more   less
