Great places to have a picnic with family and friends
Parking can be a problem if you have someone who can not walk far

“Take a time out here”
Reviewed April 4, 2014

If you are visiting Salisbury Cathedral, spend some time wandering around here. It’s free, you get excellent views of the cathedral and many of the buildings a very interesting, and quite a few are open to visitors at times. It’s a very peaceful spot to spend some time just sitting.

Use the Park & Ride to get into Salisbury, parking in the city is an expensive nightmare.

“A must in Salisbury”
Reviewed March 28, 2014

I lived in the Close as a child 50 years ago and still remember who lived in each house. Visiting today is still a pleasure. Wonderful place to wonder around, sit peacefully under the Cedar tree, make up stories about the residents, do some people watching, or even visit the Cathedral ... A wonderful place in itself. Be sure to look at the fabulous model near the old clock. It tells the story of the construction with some amazing details.

“Peaceful area”
Reviewed March 25, 2014 via mobile

I loved the old buildings, there is a quiet calm amongst these buildings even though they are quite close to the centre. The place has been preserved for hundreds of years and is simply beautiful.

“Wonderful houses shame about the stones someone has dumped on the grass!”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

The houses are so individual and historical. But it is also a living breathing place to be. People live here and there are 3 schools here plus 2 museums and a 2 houses to visit.

It is convenient for the High Street and only a 15 minute walk from the station.
As someone said it is like stepping back in time.

This is a really lovely area and is much used when the weather is nice as it has such a lovely atmosphere.

Now it has all been spoilt by some lorries dumping stones all over the grass. When we saw them unload them we thought at first they were going to do a mini stonehenge, which WOULD have been great and in keeping with a medieval cathedral.
Then someone suggested they were fly tipping, I thought the stonemason's yard had run out of space. But apparently this was done by a man who makes his living from doing these so called sculptures. I sincerely hope The Cathedral did not have to pay for them!
Also on a health and safety note are these stones going to be fenced off or light up at night as they could be dangerous if you trip over them!
